That hill at BJC blows SO BAD because on the way down, the cracks/upheavals on the road just constantly jar you and make it suck.  IMHO.  I would rather run up and down it any day!

Healing ITBS and running DOWN that road = MISERY! :p No ITBS and running down that road = MISERY!

Jer - for you babe...anything!

I might stick a toe in but I am hearing that water be FAREEZING!

Too much going on this Thurs. Seriously hoping to make the time next week.

But I wouldn't mind eating here again.

I still need to change my back tire if I can remember how to do that. (Can I still call myself a triathlete if I haven't swam in 6months or more?)

I could use some more OWS, but I just can't get out of work on time to get out there! Have fun guys. I won't tell you how cold the water is. =)  Actually it has been warmer outside this week, so it probably wont' be that bad.

How about MTN Bike Intervals up the hill... Kills you on the way up, but nice and soft on the way down.

Sorry folks.  1st OWS and months ago I was scheduled to time for the track meet.  IF I can finish by 5 I'll come out to BJC but can't be for sure.  Good luck and don't let a boat run into you.

Who's wearing at wet suite tomorrow? I'm bringing it but not sure if I'll wear it. I probably should because 1) it will probably be cold, 2) I've only swam in it once.

BTW, what time should we be ready to swim at? 5:30? That would give us like 45 minutes of swim time before sun set.

So sorry guys.  Stockman was really short of people to work the meet so I told her in Jan. that I had things to do on Thurs but she could schedule me for 1 - luck of the draw that it's this week.

Be ready to hit the water by 5:30 pm.

The swims usually starts out shorter to allow enough daylight to run the hill, but it is your call.  In the past it was a custom to swim out to the buoys and meet up, then swim either a short loop or wide loop and meet each loop to gossip, chat, re-count heads.  Wet suits do more than protect from cold, they help in this tread water time frame.  In addition, if you have little time in one this is the opportunity to train in your gear.

Free beer is always good beer so due paying is providers choice!

For those that forgot what I look like, I am the huge handsome hunk of a guy that will probably show up on his motorcycle with limited gear in the saddlebags.  We tend to park on the far side of the parking loop by the furthest bathroom. (Bring your own paper as Chris usually does not share!)

Dean and I are going to come out for the OWS this afternoon, and we are going to bring our dog Rowdie. Rowdie likes people, and so do we, so it will be a good outing for all of us.  See you soon!

BTW, Mirg, we will both be wearing wetsuits.

I'll be there around 5:00 as my wet suit has been giving me the stink eye and I have a feeling that I'm in for a ten round slug fest to get it on. Looking forward to the swim/run/beer brick! An ice cold Corona with a lime sound delicious but a free beer of any brand sounds delicious as well.

Is the water warm enough to go sans wetsuit yet? I don't have a wetsuit, never have.

Technically you can swim in it with out a wet suit as I did on Sunday and plan to do tonight. Will it be as warm as the pool water? No.  Will I be screaming obsanities like Clark Griswald? Most likely.

My goal is to aim for about 20 minutes of swimming

It can be done without a wetsuit. It's not pleasant, but it can be done. I've done it a couple of times already this year and Milton's been doing in for a couple of months now. It's been warmer this week, so the water might even be a little warmer than it was Sunday when I was there.

I think there are a couple of people going tonight without wetsuits

Dangit. I don't know if I can get home, get stuff, and get to the Cove by 5:30. It's a 45 minute drive home, 45 mins to the cove and I get off work at 4:00.

Y'all doing this next week? I'd like to get in on the fun but had a rehersal dinner tonight for a wedding this weekend. Nutrition will be bad this weekend too. Also, do ya have to get a permit thingamabobber-doohickey-doddad-widget?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt. Yep we will be doing this next week, and every Thursday from now until SOMA.  Technically you DO need a Tonto Forest Pass, however the rangers usually make their last pass through there about 5pm, and we have never been caught without them.  So it's up to you.  If we were there on a Saturday, I would say you absolutely need one, but for a Thursday night, not so much.  If they DO give you a ticket, the fine is to buy a pass and mail it back to them, so no huge deal.

Of course Ron N Fire WORKS for the rangers in Tonto - but do not tell him your name!
