It's very close to the course map. We're going to come in through the Star of Texas Rodeo Gate on Decker Lake Road, which adds some distance. Also, probably going to take a left on County Line Road and a right on Voelker, which adds 3/10 of a mile.
I drove the course, and came out to 55.9. Buddy drove it, and it came out to 56.2. So, it's as close as you can typically get it.
I'm also toying with where T1 will be. We may move it further down towards the dam, which adds a bit to the bike course. It's also grass and flat. Going out there on Friday to determine the best spot for it.
I'm trying to avoid putting T1 up where it was, as it's prone to being dusty/dry
(duh

) if we don't get any rain. The lower fields stay grassy. It also allows for a shorter run from the water to T1.
So, yes, two transitions....about .7 mile apart. One will be at the park, the other will be at the Arena. There's a large fenced in area on the back side of the arena, half of it is covered. That's where T2 will be.
It's great for a couple of reasons. You'll be parking at the Expo Center in the AM, and be bused to the swim start
(there will be 3X the number of buses this year

). But, you'll finish at the Expo Center, right next to where you parked. No long walk back to your car after the race
We'll transport your T1 gearbag back to the Arena, so no need to go back to the Park. Much more convenient.
PLUS, you'll finish in the Arena! It's awesome....

It also makes the bike course better, as we use more of the roads with better pavement.
I think the race will be MUCH better this year, which is really saying something. Our goal is to make this the best race in the world, so we're making these changes to improve it. It'll also be a big hit with the family members
