Alright after perusing the various mentor groups I have decided to join Beth & Yanti based on their hawtness, knowledge, humor, and post padding ability.

That is if you will have me.

My name is Bill.  I am a cycleholic and would put all my possessions in a trailer and pull it around behind my bicycle but I am married to a great lady and have 2 beautiful kids (one teen/one pre-teen so there are ugly moments!).

The reason I want to join is listed above and I need motivation to return to the pool.

I love swimming but I love riding my bike more and once the weather breaks around Buffalo this time of the year I want nothing more than to ride my bicycle.  Since my pool is not by my work I do not venture there often enough.

I am training for a 340 mile bike ride in Iowa (Not Ragbrai (sp?) but TransIowa.  There is a deadline (34 hours so no sleep until you are done ), then I won lottery acceptance into the Mt Washington Road Race in NH in June so I am running a lot now also.

Please help me return to the water.  I love it just need to find the time for it.

Please also accept my entrance into your world or mentoring if you so deem it

BILL.  id be more than happy to put your keister in one of those rocket launchers they use for hot dogs/tshirts at baseball games to help you return to the water

cant wait to 'pick your brain' about long distance cycling, the dos the donts, the must haves et al.   here i thought 150 miles was a long ride.

340.  HOLY CRAPOLY THATS A LOT OF MILES!

itll be good to have you around, a win-win for all of us.

Yes lots of T.I.T.S (Time In The Saddle) for the new people.  Yes Victoria is Great I left it once only for a year and had to come back!!

I guess I should say a bit about myself as everyone else has and before TR makes up stories.  I did my first triathlon about 8 or 9 years ago then did nothing it was a spring I didn't train for it I wasn't even sure I could swim the distance before I left.  I did it backstroke most of the way.  After that didn't do much then had my second knee operation and decided to start running because my ex who is not an athlete was and if she could do so could I.  I got hooked on how I felt after running.  I still don't like running I just like the feeling after, that and my group I run with is stuck with me for however long on trainging runs.  I have made it up to doing Half Marathons and plan do to another this October.  I need to find time to get to the pool I am a horrible swimmer that loves to be in the water.  I can just hang out at the lake all day floating around playing with the kids.  Oh yes kids there are many here 5 right now 4 from my gf previous marriage our son who is just over 2 and we are expecting another in September.  So we have 14, 13, 11, 9 and 2 and a newborn by the end of the year.

I was in Yanti's first mentor group with Beth then I stayed with them for Beth and yanti's great adventrue together and am now finding my way back to them.  I have forgotten all their great advice and will be asking the same questions I probably asked last year.

Glad to see a great group forming here and we are in great hands with these two ladies helping us along the way!!

Hi-
Can I join in this round?

I'm at work out of town for the next 2 days, so I can't give many details, but if you hold a spot for me, I'll jump in with both feet tomorrow night!
Thanks,
Heidi

Shawn, I didn't know Maureen was expecting - congratulations!

For me - what I need help with most is motivation, and accountability. That's what I hope I can get from this group. I need someone (or several someones) to yip at me when I post another day like today in my logs.
I have plenty of time to train, I just seem to be really good at making excuses not to do it. Every night I go to bed disgusted with myself that I'm such a slacker and VOW that the next day will be different - but alas, it never is ... I'm supposed to be a health & fitness expert, people pay me good money (or they did, before the economy tanked) for nutrition and lifestyle counselling ... and I'm currently not a very good role model!

I'm also just recovering from an injury - a torn Achilles. It's healed I think as much as it's going to heal, my doc has given me the go-ahead to train as much and as hard as I want ... but I'm also still using it as an excuse too. ;-(

I was a good runner up until the injury ... it was my strongest of the 3. I didn't start swimming until 2006 but immediately loved the water and I'd say that is my second strength.
And the bike ... well ... I hate the bike. I like the idea of cycling - but cars and gravel and clipless pedals frighten me right back into the house.

Oh and something else about me - I talk alot. And kill a lot of time on the internet.

Hi ladies -- I've been around Bt since Jan. 08 and have seen the Manatees -- would love to be a part if there's room. I was in a great Jan. mentor group that I hope we continue, but I know more is better...kind of goes with size matters. But since it will be officially no more...would like to meet new peeps.

Here's my brief tri bio: Lynn, in So. California, San Diego County. Going for my first HIM in August, Barb's race and in the last year and a half I've done 4 half marathons, 10 or 11 sprints (lost count) and  the Soma quarterman in Phoenix last October (more than an oly, less than a half iron). If you'll have me....I'll do my best to support and uphold the honor of being a Manatee mentoree.  Cross my heart. xxx

Hi! I would love to join this group if there is still room Laughing

A little bit about me... I live in Colorado and I'm 33. I am married and have 2 kids. I started running a few yrs ago when my husband was deployed for a yr. I have never been athletic, gym class was always traumatic and I'm a typical bookworm. But that year I wanted to prove something to myself and challenge myself and I did the Couch to 5k program. I've been running on and off (some injuries here and there) and last year I ran in the Army 10 miler. I plan to run a half later this year.

However, running takes a terrible toll on my knees (arthritis, ACL reconstruction 15 yrs ago that acts up) so I started thinking instead of going longer and longer, why not try something new! And so in a semi-drunken state one night in Brekinridge, I declared I would do a triathlon and talked a friend into doing it w/ me. My race will be in Aug. in Denver, "Tri for the Cure". Right now I'm running, biking on my cheapo Wal-mart hand me down and learning how to swim.

If you'll have me, I'm really looking forward to learning everything I can and getting to know everyone better!

Hi! My name is Art. Is there room for a slow, slightly overweight guy in his mid-40's?

I live in PA with my wife (24 years next month). This is my second year doing tri's. I got started last year in order to give my knees a break from running after getting them both worked on. I'm signed up for a couple of sprints and my first HIM in August.

I think the best thing I can offer the group is the security that comes from knowing that, if you train properly, there will always be someone slower than you in a race. That would be me

I was reading through your group and it looked like it would be a really fun one to join...  But, as I was signing in it looks like it closed!  I am just putting my name out there in case one more can join.

I have done one sprint last year up in Carpinteria, CA and also love swimming.  I would love to be a part of this motivational group.

Let me know,

WOOO HOOO!  what a great line up we have!

I know I can speak for both of us when I say we are very, very excited to get to know each and everyone of you!  We love sharing our experiences, and will love to learn from all of you!

sometime in the next few days Yanti will post a table with a link to everyone's training log.  this will be something you can post in your log and use as an easy way to keep up with and inspire your fellow manatees

I haven't had a chance to check and see yet, but hopefully everyone is using their training log to track their workouts, if you're not, I would highly recommend it.  It's a great way to track your own progress, as well as a way for Yanti and I to stop by and provide feedback(or a push in the pool )

Yahoo! Thanks Yanti!

Hi all- my name is amy and I am a manatee addict... er... um, a reborn manatee, LOL.  Yeah, that's it, I'm a reborn manatee mentee.

I am a 34 year old married mom of two, and I am a nurse by profession. I was a swimmer as a kid, and a diver and sorta swimmer in high school. Over the years, I became less and less active until about a year and a half ago I realized I had become the dreaded couch potato. Ack! So, after being challenged by a good friend, I decided to tackle my first sprint tri. May 2008 I finished the tri in the middle of the pack. I have since continued to train, and will be doing several sprint tris and a half marathon this summer. My biggest hurdles to overcome mostly have to do with scheduling time to train.

Oh, and I have been known to be chatty and sarcastic at times
