I'm in for this one as well.  Looking forward to it!  I last did this race in 2005, my first year of doing tris.  Should be interesting to see how much faster I am now.

Here's a link to the water conditions buoy at the north end of the lake.  http://fli-data.hws.edu/clarkpt/.   Current temp is 68 degrees at the top.  A little chilly for me, but it could be worse.

I'm nervous about a treading water start- that tends to make me cramp up if I tread water for very long.  Will we be able to jump in just before the start?  I'm not worried about compromising my "speedy" (what's the sarcasm font??) swim times!

never done a deep water start myself, but try not to worry about it.

with the wet suit on, you should be able to just go on your back and float with no problemo....

just be one of the last from your wave to enter the water...once they start the frsit wave, they're going to keep them going pretty smooth so I cannot imagine you being in the water for very long before the start.

I've only had one race with a deep-water start.  Once the previous wave goes off, they herd the next wave out, and once everyone is lined up and the clock hits... you go.  I'd guess you only have 2-3 min of treading water... less if you take your time getting out there to line up.

I try to use the extra few minutes before my wave goes off to swim. I find even a few minutes of swimming helps to loosen me up a bit before racing so I do not go out to hard.

Great ideas!  I'm feeling a little less nervous.

I did an OWS in Seneca yesterday and the water was pretty nice actually.  I was happy to have a wetsuit on (I usually am!), but I had none of the take-your-breath-away feeling when I got in the water.  My feet stayed pretty comfy too.  The waves were assertive but manageable, with only the occasional whitecap.  The weather is looking pretty nice for Saturday.

Oh yeah. Looking forward to tomorrow. My goal is to be calm during the swim and do better than Keuka.

I'm looking forward to it!  Should be a lot of fun.  I just hope the rain holds off.

Ready to race.  I am under trained but excited to get out there for my second tri.  Hoping to increase my bike speed over what I did at Keuka despite the extra 2 miles.

Just got home from picking up my race packet. So the sprint isn't chip timed? I got a bib number, number for the bike and a small 1x3 numbered sticker. No idea what that is for.

I got the helmet number figured out. I guess we get the timing chips at body marking according to the website. Yeah I'm nervous.

I was surprised they didnt include directions for the race numbers.  But from the past, the small one goes on the helmet.  The Geneva Bike one goes on the bike.  Duct tape works well for this.  The other one goes on your run shirt.  I use a race belt, so its going there for me.

Awesome race! Noticed my right shoe was full of blood. Must have cut my toe during the swim.

Yeah, it's easy to slice your feet open if you walk where the mussels are. Hope everyone had a good race weekend. Next year, it's on to the big boy course for me.
