I tried riding without socks and it was OK. Running bothered me. So the small amount of time I lose by putting on socks doesn't bother me at my level.

KSH - 2009-07-21 3:54 PM T1- I do not put on socks. All the water from my body drains into my shoes- so what's the point? Anyways, I don't get blisters from my cycling shoes. T2- I put on socks. I will get blisters if I run without socks.

Same here. I don't want to take the time in T1 to dry my feet off and put socks on.  I don't blister when I go sockless on the bike and have had zero issues biking without socks.

I do have to wear socks on the run- even for sprints because I blister easily.  But it's pretty easy to put them on since my feet have dried out on the bike.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like it's just personal preference. Since I will never be NEAR getting any hardware, I think I'm going to just continue wearing them.

I'm not going to be winning anything anytime soon... so I wear socks and go for the comfort on both the bike and run. Also, I know this is nutty but I don't want the stinkiest shoes in the house (my husband has the award now for stinkiest shoes, clothes, etc). Good workout = lots of sweat but I hate the stink. I know... I have issues!

rach_1623 - 2009-07-22 3:01 PM I would really like to know why someone would wear a sock on one foot and not the other...?
Haha I only put that option in there, just because I knew if I didn't, someone else would.

Ohh.  Okay.  Hahaha.  Laughing

If you ever get tri-specific bike shoes, they are made to be worn sockless.  They are cushiony and nice inside and the fit is not appropriate to wear socks with.  Since I got "tri" bike shoes, I haven't worn a sock and never missed it.  Then my feet are dry by the time I return, by the way.   However, if I am wearing my old cycling shoes that are not meant for wet bare feet (I have a pair of mountain bike Shimano shoes) I wear socks no matter what.   Sometimes I wear them for duathlons.

I've been putting on socks in T2 until this year.  I accidentally forgot my socks on a training run early in the season and discovered that, for a short run, I didn't need them.  So now I do not race with socks for sprints.  I will continue to wear them for longer than 3 mile runs until I can experiment some more.

Because of this, I occasionally do not wear socks to run.   But mostly I do.

I wear em because I"m afraid of getting blisters, although I have never actually gotten blisters from not wearing socks. Maybe I should experiment - that would bee a sweet time saver...
