OK so who's in for swimming at 10am on Sunday morning? It looks like it's going to be nice and 10am seems to be right between the big groups and the tourists. A couple out-of-towners might show up so come help us welcome them to Chicago.

Also if people really want to get together after the triathlon, let me know ASAP. We don't need reservations, we could probably just hit up a neighborhood bar, if we have under a certain number of people.

Here is where to find your BIB # and anyone else's too.

http://www.chicagotriathlon.com/?q=confirm.html

Click on the "confirm your 2009 entry" red button on the right.
A separate window pops up.  Select the race you're in.
And then search for yourself.

Hope that works/makes sense!

You'll find out for sure at the expo, but it's pretty easy to estimate as waves are 4 minutes apart. You're in wave 30 so that is 30 (waves) X 4 (minutes) = 120 minutes. First wave goes at 6, so you'll be hittin' the water about 8ish. You still have to get down there to rack your bike. I live about five minutes from tha hahbah so the times I did it I would have my bike racked by 4:30 and be home sleeping by about 4:45 again. Then I'd get up, grab my wetsuit (don't leave that in transition! They won't let you back in to get it!) and my goggles (or two) and my swim cap, throw on my onesie and some flip flops and head down there to start.

Sadly, we're in wave 56, meaning we'll head out about 9:45ish. I figure I'll be running with some of the pros, I'm sure. I think they start at 10 and will be about 20 minutes faster than us. Frick. I'm going to look really really slow on the run.

Where is the closest parking for Ohio St. Beach? I live in the western burbs and need to allow travel/parking time

Bib #6287!  Wave 38!  Starting to get a little nervous and a lot excited!

Count me in for meeting up after the race.  My girlfriend is coming in to town to do the tri with me, and since we can't really be having cocktails the night before it would be fun to stick around and have a beer or two!

Closest parking is going to be at/around Navy Pier or Millenium/Grant park garages.  If you are talking about parking for race on sunday, Definitle suggest Millenium park garage, Randolph entrance--Bike transition is right at end of Randolph at the lake.  If you are talking about going down for a swim this weekend, park at navy pier or north pier.

I swam this morning and it was FREEZING!!! Usually the cold water doesn't bother me but my brain would hurt from my head being in the water. Easily the coldest I've felt it all summer.

Ok, 61 deg. is pretty cold if you ask me. 2 weeks ago at the Naperville Tri the water temp at 7:00 am was around 80 - 83 deg. pretty comfortable for me.... I can swim, but I'm not a big fan of the water, let alone COLD water. So I need some advice.

I have never swam with a wetsuit before, and am thinking 'bout renting one. Problem is I'm not so sure if I'll have enough time to practice with a rental and get comfortable with it.
How much practice would I need to get used to it? Right now I swim with my Tri shorts and a singlet, but that does not afford me with much warmth. I'm not so worried 'bout getting out of it in T1 as much as I am swimming with it. If I rent one I would pick it up tomorrow and go to Ohio St. beach to practice with it.......feasible or not?

I'll PM you. I happen to know someone who's in town right now with lots of wetsuits to rent, and she said she'd let you use one to practice in and if it works you can rent it until after the tri. She'll be there tomorrow morning at the swim.

I bought my wetsuit and got it just before my first tri, bobbed and swam a couple of laps in a pool then went for it.  It went great.  As long as the suit fits well, you should be fine...and you may love the buoyancy!

WOW  61 degrees I am really glad I borrowed a wetsuit from a friend!!

Bib #1737, wave 9...at least I won't have very long to wait around.  As for getting together afterwards, well that will depend on how painful this is...

This will be my first time doing this race, second tri total. I'm doing the sprint, starting in wave 11. My wife has done the olympic the past few years, but she's doing the sprint with me this year. She's starting in wave 9, so it'll be fun to chase her down.

I'm excited to be competing this year instead of spectating.
