I rarely have a beer after a run, but I had one today with some sushi after I got back from my brick.

yeah i know. sorry for being harsh. but now we're just getting off topic. my fault.

I kept looking that first post thinking "Shouldn't he have used a red font?".  All I can say is that I like what I like and you are entitled to your own opinion.

I agree with aquagirl.   I love it!!!

I love beer but not after a race unless it is a sprint. After an Oly or HIM my body is usually in shock cuz I pushed it way hard for 2-4.5 hrs. Right after the race I am not even hungry I just want a coke and some water. Later in the day after my stomach settles down, I ate something and I am feeling better I then might consider a beer or 2 or 10...

Tastes good, quenches the thirst (if had in moderation), and is full of carbs.

Beer (alcohol) in moderation:
1) increases gastric acid secretion - aiding digestion
2) dilates the peripheral blood vessels- lowering blood pressure and also helping to cool the
      body
3) thins the blood- leads to better cardiovascular health
4) is associated with elevated HDL cholesterol levels
5) tastes great
I have just gone to the refrigerator and opened an ice cold "PBR" to sip on while I am typing. I love a cold beer after a workout or a long day at work.

Hold on now, in America I thought water and beer are the same thing? Or can you buy real beer there now?  



I know, I know,  I hate America. But my seat height is just right!

After thinking long and hard, I have come up with your new question, why drink PBR? I mean come on, whats next IC Light?

Kind of late, but just had to add... I tri so that I may drink. It is not an issue of rewarding myself for a job well done, or nothing of that sort. It's more like a carbon offset...

No one has said anything about carbo-loading??  I'll drink a beer (or 2) the night before a race. It also helps you relax and get a good night sleep

Yes, we can.  Sierra Nevada Extra Pale Ale.  Yummy and 5.5%.  LOTS of micro-brews here now.  The days of Busch, Milwaukee's Best, and Black Label are behind us.  Or, I can travel 5 minutes down the road, and I have a local brew pub who sell only their brewed beer and nothing else.   Bitters, Nut Browns, Pale Ales, and Ambers oh my.  Sweet.

Exactly. Because I efffinnnn love beer! I'm 22...I like to party on occasion, I like to feel a buzz, and I LOVE Beer pong...I make boys cry during bp...I train and work a lot and I think i deserve to relax, play some pb, and party with some friends....I'm also proud to be one of those girls that loves beer...as many my age do not, weird. Nothing like a bud light on a friday night...or three : ) However on race day...i prefer gatorade as a refresher. Maybe I should try beer someday tho!
