yogachic - 2010-06-01 4:31 PM Hi Team!  Here's my intro, using Jay's format:

Name:  Missy
Age: 28
Tri Exp: 2nd season.  Last year did 1 sprint (my first road race ever!), 3 Olys, & 2 half marathons.  This year, I did my first 5k and my first marathon.
Upcoming races: So far I'm registered for a 200-mile relay (running), a HIM, and another marathon.  I'm thinking of adding a few Oly's in there.  And maybe a 10k & a half marathon in the fall.
Location: Chicago, IL

Goals:
Swim 4x
Bike 20 hrs
Run 60 miles
Yoga 4x

I've decided I don't really like to swim all that much (my arm goes numb if I swim too much), so I'm only going to aim to do an OWS about once a week; if I do more in the pool that's great but I'm already tired to lap swimming!  At least in open water, you're kind of going somewhere, even if it's just out & back.  I'm ramping up my time on the bike since that's my weakest sport, and also increasing my run mileage this month since last month I was recovering from my marathon (aka running only when I felt like it)... Plus, my training program for my fall marathon starts in about 2 weeks as well so I'll be re-instating a structured run schedule into my routine.

Hey Missy...I must have missed your marathon recap at the end of April.  The posting that month was a bit crazy...so it must have got buried in a couple days of posts.  Good to hear you did well.  Chicago should be much flatter and faster.

Hi Team!

Name:  Jackie
Age: 39
Tri Exp: 3rd season, a few sprints
Upcoming races: 1 Oly, a few sprints & my first HIM
Location: Sunny New Jersey
Goals:  Stick with the BT training plan by volume, stay healthy, enjoy myself

The challenges over the last few months have seen me through 2 half-marys, my first 1.2 mi OWS, and a long ride of 50 miles.  This month, I have a long ride of 67 miles and my first oly, so I'm going to need some inspiration.

Good luck Bill--sounds like an amazing trip.

I got a GREAT run done on the treadmill yesterday!  Wow!  It felt fantastic!  I wish it had been outside, though.  When you have a baby and it is raining, the treadmill is the only way to run.

Thanks!  It was a lot hotter, more humid, and hillier than I'm used to running in, so my energy was sapped much earlier in the race than I expected.  So I ended up walking a lot of the uphills and toward the end, but was still able to run the last mile and a half through the finish just on pure adrenaline.  Then I couldn't walk for 2 days Tongue out

But yes, Chicago will be a lot flatter and faster (and hopefully cooler) so I should easily PR in Oct!

I rang in June by getting my first OWS of the season done yesterday morning!  I'd forgotten to pre-soak my wetsuit beforehand, so it was definitely tight, and I had a hard time with the swim.  Once it loosens up, I'm sure I'll be fine doing longer distances (only did half a mile yesterday).

I'm thinking of changing my yoga goal to a strength+yoga goal because I like having all my workouts count toward my monthly goal.  But I did that last month and ended up mostly lifting and not really doing yoga.  I think I'll do it still, though, and make it a rule that it won't count if they are more than 2 away from each other.

So up for tonight is lifting, and a little biking.

wgraves7582 - 2010-06-02 2:51 AM wow so many familiar names.  great competition on this team but are you guys up to the challenge?

Bill...how about you give me 2.4 to 1.  Meanning you take my mileage and multiply by 2.4.  I'm slated for about 650 this month, so that comes out roughly to 1500 miles.

I really need to hit my bike goals this summer...so it will be good motivation for me.

Got in an easy 10k last night and will hopefully get in 8 - 10k recovery tonight.

This week is a rest week so volume will be a little light.  I'm heading up to Tofino (aka - best place in the world) for a food and wine festival this weekend.  Should be a blast.  I will be bringing my shoes though and try to get in a run between hangover recovery.

Today's swim = epic failure!

I took baby to the gym childcare.  It was moderately busy.  I asked how busy it was going to get and the woman said "oh, there will be quite a few more kids in here."  I just about decided to leave him in there when the lady said "I have a biter in here right now."

WTF!!!!

Why would someone take a biting child to gym childcare!!!!  Please tell me why!!!!

Needless to say, I did not get my swim done.

Hi Amanda!  Good job getting back to working out so soon after having a baby!  You're a woman after my own heart!  I did the same thing a year ago!

Speaking of which, I'm not sure how many of the ladies were on last month's winning team, but I'm now honoring the losing punishment.  I think it's been over a year since I've changed my avatar.  This is really going to screw with me

I got in a lovely run this morning and a windy ride in this afternoon.  I headed out about 13 miles and turned around.  I made it back 14 minutes faster than heading out.  Yeah, just a little windy.
