That refers to average morning temperatures. Accuweather is calling for a high of 90 F. , so likely the morning of the race will be in the 70's.

And water temps probably in the low to mid 80s. Ugggh. Pray for some rain and cooler nights over the next week or so to cool it down a little!

I've been running at night in an attempt to find some cooler air but still so warm and thick even at 9:30 it's unbelievable.

Same goes for 5:15 AM - just muggy.

Don't count on a wetsuit legal race. The lake is always pretty warm, and with the weather we've been having this summer I don't see any chance of cool water.

I think last year was the first time wetsuitd were allowed. You should probably ALWAYS go into this race not expecting to wear a wetsuit

last year was about as close to WS illegal as you can get and if memory serves, we had freakishly cool weather/rain leading up to the race. I will be happy if its south of 85 at this point. Seriously.

I was up there last saturday in the a.m. to ride the bike course. The water is warm and with the weather forecast this week I can see no possible way for it to be wetsuit legal. I will most likely be up there this saturday too. I will bring a thermometer to get a temp reading.

This rain will certainly help cool things down, or at least keep them in check. Next week is forecasted to be sunny and warm...uhhgain.

Regardless, it will be an awesome two days of racing. I can't wait. This is what I build my entire training plan around all year. On those dark days of winter, when its 27 degrees, ice on the windshield, and I am trudging to a cold pool wondering "what the hell am I doing"...I try to dream of this week leading up to this race...and then I remember why I do this!!

Sadly, they are 5 min apart.  I'm in wave 12 (going off at 8:30) - my friend in wave 16 is not happy!

Good luck all - bring lots of water!

Can I trade? I am in Wave 4. Which is the "Pink" wave. I must have pissed off Larry or Michele somehow
Going to be a great race..I can just feel it already

Good luck everyone. Wish it was this saturday...hard to wait one more week.

(BTW: by my very rough calculation, there could be over 1500 people in the sprint alone. Wow).

My biggest worry about the late start time is the weather, I don't want to be finishing when the noon sun is staring down at me. The early weather forecast is mixed, one says 70's, one 80's-90. As long as it's not a heat wave I am good with my start time, at least I won't have to worry about the next wave overtaking me and my ego!! Also it gives me good incentive to break 3 hours to enjoy some of the festivities!

I was out there today to do the sprint bike course and the olympic run course. 96 degrees and i just barely finished. Plenty of shade on the beginning of the olympic and just a little tiny bit on the sprint end.

Quakerbridge Road is literally a minefield - be careful out there next week@!

Wave 5 for me.  1st Triathlon, and I can't wait.  Didn't think I would be able to do this 5 months ago when I had my ankle rebuilt with 16 screws and 2 metal plates!  If you see someone with a Frankenstein looking ankle, that's me!

2 goals, finish and don't be last.  Laughing

Have fun everyone!

Yeah, I was going to mention Quakerbridge isn't in good shape at all especially up parallel to the soccer/frisbee fields. Almost impossible to ride safely when open to traffic.

Rode the sprint bike course yesterday and walked the sprint run course, at approximately the same time of day I'll be doing it on Saturday.  It was wicked hot on the run course at 9:30 am - drink LOTS of water everyone.  There are some areas of shade, but I forgot that there are also large sections in direct sun.  Ugh.  Think I'll pray for overcast skies.  Water felt VERY warm too, I think there is no chance it will be wetsuit legal (but I didn't have a thermometer, so don't count on what I say).

Quakerbridge is rough, no doubt.  Also, for anyone who doesn't know, the sprint bike course is a tad short - more like 11.1 than 11.5.  It's always a nice surprise to be done earlier!

Good luck to all!

By now, everyone should have been training and riding in this heat to prepare for the race. While I recommend hydrating before and drinking during, stick to your training. Too much hydrating could have adverse effects!

I agree 100%. Thus all of my MID-DAY training runs over the weekend(s). A run in 95 degrees will most def have one more prepared to run in 78 degrees 8:30 in the morning.

Sorry folks - I certainly did not mean to imply overhydration or going outside your comfort/training levels.  Just that it will be hot and you shouldn't pass up the aid stations.  I know I have at times forgetten to drink much on my bike when I'm in the thick of a race, and then pay for it by bonking on the run.

Again, good luck all!

Do we have a starting song yet for this year?

I see the online registration is closed but does anyone know if race day registration will be an option?  I'd really love to do this race as I'm just getting into the sport after having my ACL/MCL and meniscus done 2 summers ago.  I look forward to enjoying this journey with many of you.

I'm fairly certain both distances are closed and have been for some time.

The race is sold out and there is a waiting list for both distances. You could try emailing the RDs, but I would say its probably doubtful at this point. I think there were 100s on the waiting list last year, not sure how many got in.

Another good option (and great newbie race if you are in this general locale) is the Hightstown Triathlon in September.

This is my first tri, and I'm really excited!!! I'm trying to stay optimistic about the weather, but it's only five days away now and Weather.com has been predicting thunderstorms Sunday morning since five days ago. Weather underground initially said it would be sunny Sunday, but now they're saying thunderstorms in the morning, too.

I don't mind racing in the rain, but will they cancel altogether if there are thunderstorms? Will they just delay the race a bit? I know every race organizer is different...just wondering if anyone knows how CGI handles inclement weather.
