Subject: RE: Andyone doing their first HIM or IM in 2011I hear you loud and clear everyone I train with is about 20 years younger or more and 50 lbs lighter. Don't know how they stay on that bike in a good wind. Last year was my firm HIM event and this coming August I am signed up for Iron Man Canada. Have to say its a bit scary but after doing the HIM this summer I know I have to focus on two things getting my weight down about 15lbs would really help on the run which I know will be my challange. The swim and bike I can power through with good form and keeping to my game plan, but I know I was tired at the end of the 1/2 marathon this past summer so I am really run focused this fall trying to work on strenth and endurance as it comes to running. The nutrician requirements for us bigger guys is also going to be challanging, I will literally go through gallons of fluids in a 14 +or - Hr event. My goal is simple, to finish, to smile and be greatful that I got to the start line. I am a real believer in that if I do the program I will be successful. For Me the mental game is going to be hudge. |
