Just registered...this will be my first HIM.
All kinds of excited, I'll be thrilled to finish.

I just learned how to swim....and I'm gonna have to get some open water stuff in a few times before the date....but I'll just have to figure it out.

Good luck to everyone !

I'm in for this - will be my first HIM.

Excited that I'm even to this point, as I just started exercising again last January and slowly progressed through Sprint, Olympic, half mary, and now this.

Good luck to everyone!

I pulled the trigger yesterday.  Did the olympic tri turned du last year and was kicking myself for not doing the half instead.  Looking forward to putting in some early season volume!

I'm also thinking of signing up, but I may wait a little longer. Feb/March are supposed to be the busiest months in my new job, so I'm training as if I'm doing it but going to see how bad things get at work.  I hear there are lots of late nights and weekends....ugh!

I am in...again. I was signed up last year for the sprint as my first-ever tri, like a lot of you, but when they canceled the swim and I saw how windy the bike start was, I turned in my chip. In a moment of insanity, I bought a HIM slot for the next day. A decision I will never regret! You first-timers will have the time of your life, I promise!
So maybe this time I can actually manage to cut some time from the first one. This is one of 3 2011 HIMs on my way to my first IM (Florida 2011).

Good luck, and be safe and strong in your training.

Anyone notice the conflicting descriptions of the run course?

This is the run description on the race home page:

The 13.1-mile run takes athletes through Galveston Island, along the Texas coastline and over San Luis pass.

...and this is the statement on the actual registration page:

The run is a flat course meandering through Moody Gardens along Offatts Bayou and Palm Beach.

FWIW, the course map on the site also shows last year's 4-loop course...but the description on the page with the map also references the run along the coastline and SLP. But that sounds more like the bike course description...so maybe just an error?

Looks like a copy/ paste error. The run should be a 4-loop through Moody Gardens. Ifthe run goes over the pass... I am sooooo out! Ha!

I'm staying at the Moody Gardens Resort this year.  The group rate is $164.  Last year I stayed at the Hilton Resort a couple of miles away.  Similar price.

I pulled the trigger on 12/28 (which was my birthday). It'll be my first HIM.

Staying at the "Inn at the Waterpark" (reviews wernt the greatest but its less than half a mile from the start/finish and the run course goes right by it.....so wife and kiddo don't have to hang out for 3 hours while I peddle).

See y'all there.....happy training....

Signed up December 31st!  This is my firs HIM so I am really excited.  Looking into rental a vacation rental as it appears to be in the same price point as the hotel.  Plus, Moody Gardens is sold out now.  Anyone know of other hotels in the area that are decent?  I hear the galvez is real nice but pricey?

thanks

Check out Comfort Suites...it's about a mile from Moody Gardens and not too expensive (for the island, anyway)...probably about $130-140.

Bump...

I know IMTX has the attention of a lot of folks, but there's still quite a few of us opting for the HIM...less than 9 weeks to go...how's the training treating everyone?
