My current core routine is the "around the world" workout on this site and Mag3 site. I usually do 225-240 reps per workout. Can I continue to do this (with 10% increase) during the challenge?

If so, I`m in. 450 for the first week+ 10% each following week.

I am SO in! I have been doing the "around the world" workout program on and off as well and really like it. Think I will do that in conjunction with the crunches challenge. I'd better add it to my blog. Thanks for hosting this, misscullen.

Chris you don't like Halloween? It's my favourite holiday. There's no gifts to buy, you get to be someone else and you get to drink till you puke. Okay maybe that last part doesn't sound so fun. Name a better day of the year?

So I was obviously reading this thread because I'm thinking about doing this challenge. I want to work on my core strength for cycling. I think my exercises would have to involve more than just crunches though as I'd like to work on my back too. I'm going to have to look into some specific exercises. I think there was a thread on this a week or so ago and then I'll post my goals.

I'm gonna do this one, too - since it's still Monday here I can get today's done! I'm copying goals:

8/22/2005 30/day
8/29/2005 33
9/5/2005 36
9/12/2005 40
9/19/2005 44
9/26/2005 48
10/3/2005 53
10/10/2005 58
10/17/2005 64
10/24/2005 70
10/31/2005 77

(thanks for doing all the math, C.)

Should be finishing right around when DS turns 4, which is 4 years from the BIGGEST my abs have ever been (and I have a plaster cast to prove it!) I'm excited to see 1. if I stick with it, 2. if it makes a difference in a 43 yr old mommy tummy.

Hey count me in!!

Hmm...I'm going to a medley of core exercises such as ball crunches, sit-ups, hanging leg raises, hypers etc...I looked at my last core workout and had 120reps in one day so doing it 3xweek would give me 360reps! Yikes, I think that I'll start conservatively because that final number gets big fast...

Totals for the week:
Aug-22 300 (100/workout)
Aug-29 330 (110/workout)
Sep-5 363 (121/workout)
Sep-12 399 (133/workout)
Sep-19 439 (146/workout)
Sep-26 483 (161/workout)
Oct-3 531 (177/workout)
Oct-10 585 (195/workout)
Oct-17 643 (214/workout)
Oct-24 707 (236/workout)

Okay I'm going to follow the plan in the following article.
http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=...
I love the animated instructions!

A 10% increase each week doesn't really work since there are 15 different exercises to improve core conditioning. I'm going to try to do these exercises twice a week as suggested in the article.

Can I set the following goals? These are the number of reps recommended for different levels according to the article.
Aug-22 300
Aug-29 300
Sep-5 450
Sep-12 450
Sep-19 600
Sep-26 600
Oct-3 750
Oct-10 750
Oct-17 900
Oct-24 900

You will notice that I will be doing 3 * as many reps in the last week as opposed to the first week, so this should be enough to cover the challenge even though I am not increasing the number of reps every week.

Okay, now I'm off to figure out a new weekly training plan. Thanks for motivating me to get off my butt with this.

Jen

I thought that the challenge ended on the 31st. To add on another week, my goal is:
Aug-22 300
Aug-29 300
Sep-5 450
Sep-12 450
Sep-19 600
Sep-26 600
Oct-3 750
Oct-10 750
Oct-17 900
Oct-24 900
Oct-31 1050

What happens if I don't make my goal?
