Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: May Flowers Challenge Hi Everyone I am back for more & doing a bit of everything for my goal: swim bike run I did pretty good last month so i looking for more improvements ahead. Doing both speedwork and distance work on the bike and run. I do not have "A" races this month but will probably drop in a couple of events to keep it interested and fun. Train Well and Race harder |

Master 1346 Gold Coast | Subject: RE: May Flowers Challenge Hi Guys! I'm in! Had another long weekend Managed to get in a nice long ride yesterday, and raced on Sunday too. The tri was my first ever last year and I beat my time by 5 and a half minutes. Came second last out of the swim as usual but managed to overtake tonnes of people on the bike to finish 8/34 in my age group. Quite happy with that, now if only I could swim a little better.... |

He doesn't think I will ever have another half mary in these legs, said he thinks I may be pushing it for 10K's. Kinda sucks cause I really don't like 5K races as stand alone events. However, I can do sprint tris and relay longer events swim or bike.....Staying healthy ,active and OUT OF PT is my goal. |

You know, I was told the same thing after I tore my Achilles for the second time ... actually no that's not true - I was told I'd never run again. I refused to believe them ... ;-) Judi I believe if you listen to your body AND your heart, use your head, your body will settle into your new physical reality just fine. Sure you can't do half mary's anymore, but maybe this is your time to discover something new ... life is cyclical, if it stayed the same imagine how boring it would be! Do I miss doing long runs - yes. I won't lie about that. (I can't run more than 10K now without risking major re-injury) ... but ... there's so much other stuff to do that I really don't have the time to miss running! |

Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: May Flowers Challenge Say Boo to the naysayers: If you beleive it you will acheive it! Of course listen to your body and rest and go up in volume and intensity gradually . We have an award category at our club banquet for folks who come back and perfom well after major set backs like injuries or illness & the doctors told them to stop running etc... Its called the comeback runner : male and female. One runner Rich in particular had to stop due to bad arches. He came a few years ago and is now the american record holder in the 55-59 age group. An sporting inspiration to all of us who know him. |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: May Flowers Challenge Thanks, TR....I want to prove him wrong. Just know that it won't be this year. Truthfully, staying fit and healthy is all I want at this point. Racing is gravy, I love the environment and energy.....but it isn't all there is in life. One of my friends here has been posting pics from his home area in AL, devastated by the tornadoes last week. All I can say is there is a whole heck of a lot more to life than swimming, biking and running. |

I would have been in the top 10 of 118 women in my age group with the time I could have gotten!!!! WAAAAHHH!!!! I'm so bummed. Guess you'll just have to be in the top 10 of finishers in your next half marathon. |

Master 2042 Albany, NY | Subject: RE: May Flowers Challenge Yeah, so I crashed last night instead of working out... I had great intentions until work got away from me and then hubby came home and informed me he was heading to basketball. By the time I got the kids to bed I was so tired and achy I just went to bed. I just can't seem to shake this cold/allergy combo thing I have going on. But today is another day! |

I think you will be back running, and long-distance, but it all so very critically rests on you taking it FAR easier than you think you need to, for a fair bit longer than you think you need to. Rrrr--oops--um <----- hypocrite |
