Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Eagleman Triathlon : Official Threadsmatad - 2012-01-08 1:38 PM ...and advantage to pre-riding the bike course?....I understand its pretty flat. There is no real advantage to riding this course before the race other than knowing where the turns are. The course is dead flat and at times very windy. It's also blazing hot and there is hardly any shade on the course. If you have local roads where you can get rolling terrain and long windy stretches, get after it, stay aero as long as you can and make sure you get the miles in. Ive heard many people experience their backs lock up as a result of the Eagleman ride. The last 5-10 miles can be daunting but other than that its a very uneventful ride. Only way I'd train on the course is if I could not get in a long 50-70 mile ride without stopping a lot. Near me I have routes where I can go for almost 80 miles and stop maybe 1-2 times. |
