Okay ... still missing Atree and Tee (traveling? - their logs are blank), but here is where we are so far. Note that it was a short week and hopefully as the weather improves, we'll have bigger numbers.

Our Team percentage stands at 16.63% -- meaning that we will have to overcompensate to not only capture the 25% for a week, but also to make up the deficit. Embarassed

Team:

We are right smack dab middle of the pack ... but right behind those Crazy Canuks! Those West Coasters were strong out of the gate by completing 25% of their goal the first 5 days of the month.

Regardless, we are going to win this challenge together for the following reasons:

1) Being the SEC, we will not be too distracted by the basketball on TV.
2) Did someone mention tailgating after a long bike ride?
3) We have our Hawaiian secret weapons.
4) (add your reason here: ___________)

What happens if a bunch of teams meet their goals, then do you look at if they're above their goal?  Just curious.  This is all new to me.

BTW- we BETTER win.  We WILL win!  I have no tolerance for slackers!!

Another reason we'll win:

My shaved head makes us more hard core than the rest of the teams

I so hate to see that big 0 next to my name for last week. I had wanted to try and squeeze in a ride before I got on the plane on Thursday, but it just didn't happen. I will make it up though - I promise. Did 10 miles today!!

Tina:

I know how you feel ... I went skiing for a week in the beginning of January and did not do one lick of running, cycling or swimming -- but had a blast.

Hope you did too -- and that you get your time in the saddle!

24.71 miles for me / week 2.  this is a more typical week for me with only a couple "extra" hours to squeak out some bike time on the weekend while my kids are napping....  otherwise, i feel like i'm being stingy with my time.   Being 5000miles from most of our family, and finishing up year three in Hawaii, I just can't leave my wife and kids at home on the weekends since I've been at work all week.  So, the 100 mile goal i set before this challenge...really is a challenge for me.  i'm not letting the 59 miles i got in the first week fool me into thinking i may have been sandbagging.  aloha, all SEC challenge partners!!

RE:                        Humping it

As mentioned in the weekly results thread, the ACC appears to have pulled ahead to a huge lead, but the challenge is far from over ... their strength is also their weakness: while it is easier for them to reach 100% participation given the amount of people, they will not have the numbers to generate huge volume.

Got to get to our goals. This is hump it week for the challenge in that we have two choices: fall behind and have double the difficulty in making it up (less time + more miles = ) or to spring ahead to give yourself a cushion going into the final week.

How to know how hard to hump? If you are below 38.7% (see attached), then you are off-pace for completion.

No go out there and HUMP IT! (err ... so to speak)
