Master 1623 | Subject: RE: Looking for a Few Virtual Training Partners v2.0 I'm finally feeling extremely motivated again and just started looking at all the races I want to do next year and would love to join the group if you'll have me About me: My name is Emma. I did my first (and only so far) tri last year. It was a sprint and I loved it! This year's been rough training wise for me. I let it all take a back seat to school and moving and working. I just graduated college in May and started working in July and then moved in with my fiance in August. With all those major life changes, I havent been training like I want to and work caused me to be really unmotivated. Today I ran and did some strength training and I feel amazing so I want to really get back into it. I already have 3 triathlons picked out for next year, and a couple 5ks and 10ks. I know it will be tough but I havent been this motivated since I was training for my first tri so I feel like I can definitely get back into training. Right now I need to work on building my base for all three sports and will probably get into a training plan early next year. I am looking for a longer distance tri (oly or HIM) and a half marathon for next year. I'm also working on changing my diet, nothing drastic just making sure I get my fruits and veggies in and not too much junk. I'd like to lose about 20 lbs to get down to my pre-college weight. Well I think that's all about me for now |

I did my Thursday am road specific spin class this morning. Surges and seated climbs. 26 miles in 70 minutes. Yikes! Our instructor says she wants us to feel like we are going to puke at the end of every class - I'm 2 for 2 (wanting to - not actually!) Trying out the nutrition tracker here so I can compare it to my weight watchers one. I think maybe I'm relying too heavily on fruit and those calories are stalling my weight loss. |

Seems like a lot of us are in similar spots in our triathlon career... except for Lumber Dad who has a ton of experience! You mind if we lean on your as the resident expert of the group? I did just under an hour today on the trainer as cross training for my marathon training. I'm feeling fairly well prepared for my first 26.2 in January, but I'm still adequately worried/concerned that I'm doing enough. I have to work all day today teaching and then off to my extra side job (dealing cards for a mock casino company who does cooperate events and whatnot). Probably wont get home until well after midnight, so I'm likely taking tomorrow off from training. |

Looks like your marathon training plan is going good, I see you are getting some nice long runs in. I have an 18 mile planned for Saturday, should be able to get it in before more snow comes in Saturday afternoon.

I'm using this more as a training run as i haven't run longer than 7 miles since my HIM 3 weeks ago. This could get ugly! The weather in January is pretty unpredictable. I've run Disney in 70* weather and 30* weather. I hope you have something in between! |

I can tell I've been slacking on what little running I do. 32 mins of pretty flat, 48deg weather. I'd like to be under 25 by march (Sprint tri, that will be my first one since I was a teenager!). oh, and I signed up for my first Oly yesterday! Kansas city here I come! these next few months will be the hardest, for me at least. Gotta stay on track! |

Why would you want a new thread? Oh that's right, you want to increase your post count. I've never had issues with my post count. Wonder why that is.... I do think it would be kinda cool if you had a table for your blogs though. That way, you could all just click the links for one another. I am in~ I am a 50+ year old mother wife...I was a smoker and weighed over 200 lbs. I quit smoking and have participated in triathlons both sprint and olympic ~ I have run half marathons and was able to get my weight down to the low 160s. I lost both my parents to cancer last year and was put in a funk of no exercise and lots of bad food~ I have gained half of my weight back and decided enough is enough~ and so I had to find a race to do to get inspirece again ~ was able to get into the Vineman HIM. I am a past mountain bike racer and feel the run is totally doable ~ its swimming I will need you guys to help me with. I am not a strong swimmer and it is hard for me to motivate to swim at the outdoor pool in the winter... are we going to use this thread or get Dee to make us a new one??? post padding??? mwaaah? lil ole me? do you ever rest Dee? or would that be BT God? no sneaking nothing past you! |

New user 32 | Subject: RE: Looking for a Few Virtual Training Partners v2.0 I’m game
My name is Jeff Schulte, and I am 28 years old. Three and a half years ago my oldest son was born and I decided it was time to start taking care of myself. I started at 220 pounds and I am now down to 180 and have been stuck for a while.
So far I have done one half marathon, one full marathon, one oly tri, and two half irons. Since my wife and I now have a third child on the way I am not sure how much racing I am going to get in this summer.
So my goals for this year is to get down to racing weight (160), gain some speed, and maintain a good base by getting in 500 running miles and 2000 miles on the bike. (And tri to fit in some swimming)
I love this idea and the more advice I can get the better! |

He's a Frenchton (French bulldog, Boston mix) named Sue.. yes, a boy named Sue! As for running... Not nearly enough, and not nearly long enough. Starting tomorrow I'm going to run at LEAST 4 days a week. I like the idea of 3-2-1 but A. The only thing I hate more than running is running on a tread, and B. It's friggin cold here now... I used to run and mtb with music but it became a crutch, couldnt work out without it. I also have arthritis in my knee that slows me up from time to time. Cryo cuff and ibuprofen keep it in check! Hi timmay ~ I used to hate to run too~ I actually kinda like it now~ do you have an ipod or music you run with? and if you do....do you have a special mix of your favorite boogie woogie music?? this helps me ~ I sometimes find myself belting out a song as Im running~ haha How far are you running? and how often? do you run on a treadmill or outside? btw ~ your obnoxious boxer looks adorable ~ i have two bostons and Im not sure you know obnoxious til you meet kahuna and frisco~ my sister is in a running group where she lives. they run 5 mins walk 1 min for all their runs/races ~ she has done half marathons and marathons and kicks butt doing it this way ~ she swears by it!! she definitely kicks my a$$ running and she is 7 years my elder. |

Looking forward to a some accountability and some push from everyone! I will give more details when I have something other than a smart phone to type on! These phones can do everything but decent formatting on a forum! What is everyone's plans to make it through the new years without gaining 10lbs? I have a hard time passing on the buffet with all the home made cooking! I will be targeting more running and pushing through Jorge's bike plan! my plan for HOPEFULLY losing weight is to stay away from the food tables at all the holiday parties, drink less more with less calories! and to spin into the new year! maybe throw in a swim or two and dance the night away on New Years at Bill Graham Civic Ctr this New Years~ this will be my 30th wedding anniversary! not to age myself or anything!!!! |

Thanks for putting up the link to our blogs. My plan for surviving xmas is simple - run often, swim when I can and try to keep walking past the sweets! I'll be in south Florida for xmas as will be various family members who run and swim, so we should be able to keep each other in line. The weather usually even allows ocean swims - which I love. I'm off to my masters' swim - great way to start a wednesday! Ann-Marie I will DEFINITELY need for you to share some of that "SWIM" love stuff~ I loved to hang out in the pool as a kid...but I am having some REAL issues getting to the pool and then going back! I only have an outdoor pool that I have been swimming at and the thought of getting in of a warm bed to go to a cold pool makes me just crawl deeper under my covers! haha I went to a masters class last year and thought I was going to die! and I was in the rookies lane! so you see, I need MUCH help here!!!! |

THe "love" portion of my comment is really that being able to swim in the ocean in December v. swimming in the pool is really neat If the outdoor pool I swim in for my masters class wasn't heated there is no way I'd get out of bed on a cold morning either. Props to you if you manage that even once! |

(Or some name similar to that.) I think it's easy to hit the pad when you make a turn. You could probably get a routine going: "hit the counter, grab the wall and turn."
