It has been too long!  I'll see you there!  It's been nice to run in cooler weather, but I can see that I'm going to have a rude awakening this weekend when I get home. And bike has been on the trainer, except for one sprint race in Oregon.  ugh.  But at least I'm maintaining some level of training.  Not where it should be (training for IM Canada), but I'm doing something.   We're staying at the Hampton Inn just up the road from the host hotel.

Whewy!  10 day forecoast 98 Degrees.  And the Kansas crew thought they had a brutle hot, windy day...

Oh boy, oh boy!

Don't feel too bad...I've just spent the last 3 weeks in Alaska for work.  Hottest run was about 53 degrees.  This is going to be a suffer-fest.  Or, long training day.

I am a 33 year old female and I won't get run over.  I swim faster than much of the men!  Don't assume that just because we're women we're slow!  Women are not much slower than men in the water!

Amen, sister.  Not sure if that post was from the same guy who posted on ST about "worrying about the women."  Worry about your own darn race.  If a woman is signed up for Buffalo Springs 70.3, known far and wide as a tough race, then she's in for the consequences.  If not, sign up for Danskin.   I will get passed on the swim, but I'm not scared.  And if the men think that intentionally hitting or dunking a woman (or any other slower swimmer) is "part of the game" they are so very wrong, on a moral basis, and will be called out for it.

Either that, or the men who fuss about having to work their way through the women...like women never have to pass slower men.  ugh.   This really pushes a button with me.

Me too.  I hate when they put the women last because I have to pass all the slow men! :D

I'm also a firm believer in the fact that the Race Directors have been running this race for a long time.  Pretty sure they know exactly how to stack the waves to avoid course congestion.

So, the only way to have a safe course is for women to always be behind the men?  So, the women who beat some of the men out of the water should just hang out in transition, so we don't bog up the bike course for you?  I promise, I'll ride to the right, except when passing.  And if you are the one from ST, whose women friends are scared to be swum over....again...Danskin. They can even have noodles.  Or better yet, they can just swim a little wide and stay off the buoy line where the fast scary men will be.

I really don't get why, in a co-ed race, this is an issue for you.  There will always be some faster women than men and faster men than women.  I can certainly direct you to a RD who always puts the women at the end, youngest to oldest.  Maybe those races are more to your liking.

I'll just agree with jdicarlo. The RDs know what they are doing.

Woohoo!  I haven't raced it since 2004 and 2005.  I'm gonna STINK, but just need to come in under 8.5 hours if I can.

Sadly my worst time ever on this course was my first...7:02ish.  I am gonna crush that for worst again!  I know, I know...pathetic.

TJ, not sure if you remember me, but we met once!  It was an open water swim in Austin...really windy day?  White caps on the lake?  Kayakers paddling and getting nowhere? :D
