I really like when he was explaining about him taking grief for having an entourage helping him to be able to have the time to train and race "I came from nothing and worked hard to have what I have and I’m not going to make any excuses for that." You go Lance. At 41 - to be killing it like this - very inspiring. |

It takes too much time to put them on. Ha.
I am a HUGE Lance fan. I am very excited to see what he can do at Ironman distance this year.. |

Elite 3498 Laguna Beach | Subject: RE: Armstrong Wins Ironman 70.3 Florida (w/cool photo). So what's everyone's predictions for IM France? I wouldn't be surprised if he won. Home turf (he used to have a place in Nice). Another possible outcome is him going into the run with a lead but having to give back 1 or 2 spots on the run. That run is hot and flat, but the crowds really keep you going. |

And no I didn't see him on the run as he was finishing about 3 min before I got off the bike. Would have been cool as he had to run right by transition to get to the finish. |

Austin, Texas or Jupiter, Florida | Subject: RE: Armstrong Wins Ironman 70.3 Florida (w/cool photo). So I saw he's racing June 2 in Ironman 70.3 Hawaii. It's marginally warmer this time of year, winds are more harsh, what do we think he'll do? Did he spend his matches on FL and he'll recover on the big island? The bike course is the tougher piece of the ironman bike with the hills to Hawi. It will be interesting to see how he handles this. |

You should try going into Mellow Johnny's and seeing all his tour bikes on the walls, including Hincapie's from Team Discovery. They have a version of his tri bike hanging from the ceiling and it is like heaven in there. They had a beautiful powder blue Trek 47 in. women's tri bike with his graphics on them, and I could never in my wildest dreams afford that bike, but I swear if everyone wasn't looking I would have licked it and hugged it until you had to pry me away from it. |

Let's not forget this guy's career - he 'became a cyclist' because he was 'pretty good on the bike' during that leg in triathlons *when he was younger*. He WON his FIRST triathlon entered, at age 13. He had already proven himself as a freakishly good swimmer. Think his mind is a little weak? You might have forgotten about the CANCER. He's a total freak, and really fun to watch, but I'm also an unabashed Yankees fan, so I tend to enjoy the behemoths of sport.
Great to see him doing well, hope he (and triathlon) get more TV coverage. |

Veteran 183 Honolulu | Subject: RE: Armstrong Wins Ironman 70.3 Florida (w/cool photo). My cycling friend and I were having a Lance debate, since he's racing in Hawaii we posed the hypothetical question: what if you were standing on the race course as Lance rode by and he threw a water bottle down, would you cherish it? Would you even wash it? My friend said if Lance threw a gel pack on the ground he'd frame it. LOL. Or I bet if his actual bike seat was on eBay it would be like $20,000. I noticed all Lance/Livestrong stuff is more expensive on eBay. He's the king!!! |

Extreme Veteran 724 | Subject: RE: Armstrong Wins Ironman 70.3 Florida (w/cool photo). I'm torn on the new paint scheme for the bike he rode in FL. I really like the all black with yellow he had ridden before this weekend, but the dark grey/black/yellow is kind of sick also. Who am I kidding, I'd take either one of them in a heartbeat. |

Member 47 Langley, BC | Subject: RE: Armstrong Wins Ironman 70.3 Florida (w/cool photo). This is a bit off topic, but related to the cool photo. Anyone have any idea where all the pros are keeping there nutrition? Lance was talking about getting his nutrition dialed in for this event, but I can't see any sign of a bento box, behind the saddle storage, or even bulging jersey pockets like us mere mortals have to deal with. And its not just Lance, because this has been bugging me and my wife for a while- we've studied magazine photos, ads, tv coverage of events, and can't seem to find any sign of where pros are keeping anything other than fluids. Driving us crazy! Oh, and for the record, Lance is going to win in France for sure. |

They rode all over that place. He'll likely have a strong bike ride. He's a good descender, and those descents are horrifying. I think Armstrong will be the new Mayor of Nice after that race. Isn't mentioning Lance and Frankie in the same sentence a big no no? J/K Tom, thanks for all your information! |

Some just tape gels to the top tube, so pics could be late race after they've eaten. Some just take from the aid stations, so they aren't carrying anything on the bike. These ones know they can handle a variety of nutrition/flavors that might be at the stations. From there they figure out how often they should get it and plan accordingly with the aid station locations. |
