Age, no.  BMI, yes.

Dara Torres is 45 and can wear a bikini wherever she wants.

BMI?  Really?  According to the BMI charts I am OBESE!  Dammit!  No wonder everyone runs screaming when I go to the pool in my bikini!

Yeah, I am too.  But the government seems to think it's a better system than weight alone.  And I doubt people run from you in a bikini.

When my 16 year old daughter saw me in a bikini a couple weeks ago her eyes were wide ... I struck a pose and pointed to my body and said "welcome to your future"

Now that's funny... but I'm thinking she will be lucky to look as good as you.

I'm in the camp of if you have the confidence to wear one then wear it.  I don't care how much you weigh or what you look like in it.

^^^^

the most attractive thing about a person (man or woman) is someone who is comfortable in their own skin.

I've seen a 65 year-old rock a bikini.  Lean, fit, done Kona many times.  She looked terrific.

Sorry, but I just can't bring myself to agree with this.

I saw a picture of myself doing my first tri last year, and I scared myself...  Maybe that's why I'm a photographer, I like the other side of the camera...!

I was the aquatics director and actually started walking towards a young lady and was going to tell here to go back in and put on her bottom.  Then her friend said something to her and she turned.  I could then see the bright yellow/green neon bottoms.  She was the same age as my oldest daughter and a few years out of high school.  It was bad!!!!

Manikini's on the other hand should have a ban at any age....

There are some male runners at certain ages with certain chest sag who should be legislated to wear these things.

Maybe that should be the limit. If your gut hides your bikini bottom, then it's time for a one piece.

jford2309 - 2012-06-12 12:24 PMI am more concerned about the weight limits for bikinis! Some should not wear bikinis
If someone feels good enough about themselves to rock one, no matter their weight, it should be of no concern to anyone else. Just sayin.
This.

During my lunch run today, there was a lady in a bikini in not the best of shape, leaning over the water pad fence smoking a cigarette.  At least she thought of the children and didn't smoke in the water pad area.

I just turned 40 this year and was wondering the same thing. I look the same as I did when I was 39 but for some reason it bothers me this year.

Might be that my kids are starting to notice what I wear and how I look more than they used to though.

Moonrocket - 2012-06-12 1:29 PM just curious people's thoughts on if there's a point where one is better off not wearing one. Does being a mom change your opinion? I'm kind of liking the return of my abs with training.

If ya got it, flaunt it.

It's one thing to wear it about my pool or beach or friends.....photos of me in it are not how I wish it to be remembered. Noooooo.

Can we vote on it ?

It always amazes me how self critical women can be. It's so funny because most guys just don't care... it isn't a choice, we are hard wired to like your shapes. My wife did Tough Mudder this past weekend... she stressed about what to wear, she has a great body. Sure it's not the body she had when she was 20, but she is still HAWT. As I walked around.... completely distracted by all the incredible sights... all I could think of is probably half of them think some thing is wrong with how they look. Come on girls... you're beautiful.

Anybody remember that picture of Helen Mirren (sp?) in a red bikini in People/US/etc a couple years ago? She is well in to her 60s (I think) and looked spectacular.

I agree with the "if you got it flaunt it" mind set. And if you don't "got it," maybe a one piece is a good idea....... I see people at the pool all the time that haven't gotten the memo that their bikini days are long behind them.
