Ershk - 2012-08-15 2:42 AM I go for a quick swim and miss so much . . . or so little.

Someone gave you the royal welcome last thread, right?

I'm Rip van Winklet ... I've literally been asleep for the last two days.

Does anyone else run into this?

Put on a committee with people from many areas - am placed here as a subject matter expert. Give recommendation, backed by my management, and it's ignored by the team. Lots of excuses as to why they can't/won't do whatever was recommended.

Frustrating. Why am I even on the team???

As usual, work is again getting in the way. Off to a 2 hour meeting which will contain about 7 minutes of actual information and 1:53 worth of BS. Have fun!

To provide information and recommendations.  Not to tell them exactly what to do...

You could be 100% right, but they may have other issues to contend with.  I go in, tell them what I think and they can run with it or not.

Then I complain behind their backs they didn't listen to me or gloat if the SHOULD have listened to me!

That's all you can do.

Seemed like barely enough time to get wet?

Mostly drills/technique . . . we're still talking about swimming, right?

i get put on a lot of random teams just so there is a representative from my dept there...not because i benefit from the team or the team really NEEDS me, but just because "you need an IE there" is a blanket practice.  i just need to get better at knowing which meetings actually matter and which ones i can miss....

is it wrong that i have no interest in spending my hard-earned vacation time carrying all my food, clothes, and bedding up a mountain and then sleeping there possibly getting eaten by bears???  vacation is about relaxing in my book.

Committees are where good ideas go to die, but sometimes people want them dead so long as they have been given a "fair" opportunity.  Maybe you have been put there to give the process credibility.
