Honestly that is my thought as well. I currently have no ink and wouldn't want to do something impulsive. I have already changed my mind a couple of times so I'd like to be sure for a while before anything permanent.

My thinking with the phoenix, along with all the personal significance, is even if the race did not go as planned it would still be applicable. For me it would be more about where I came from and how far I have gone. If you take a look at my blog the post about IMAZ explains a lot.  I was born in phoenix and lived there until I was 9. My nickname as a child was bird so in addition to all other 'rising from ashes' symbolism it has a lot of touch points for me.  I am looking at something more artistic than literal. Found a design I like and am tweaking it a bit.

I saw your blog post (lucky you getting in during that 40-second window). I know before I got mine (see Ink Day in my blog), I had the design for a good year. I've "wanted" to get another one, but I haven't settled on the artwork or even the concept yet. I've thought of a winged foot, but am not sure where to get it done, or exactly what design I like.

Awesome David! I love that it has so much significance to you.  That is the way I always felt about tattoos, it should be something pretty moving for you to be marked for life unlike my cousin who has the entire Scooby Doo cast on his body as well as Billy Squire's autograph.

PS I still need that blogspot tutorial - I am so bad with this stuff. I love that your BT graph is on your site! Very cool.

I recognize it!! Very nice!!

Heehee - I figured someone would!

Getting it done on the ribs was a tad hurty, but worth it.

Where did you come up with the art work?  Did you draw it or have someone draw it for you?

I like the design, but not something I could do with my wire art, but I like how it flows.

I totally stole the design... Tony has the same thing on his calf and I've been coveting the same thing for about 2 years now, but wanted to wait until I finished an Iron distance race.

The stylized design is what made me like it - it all seems to flow.

Your wire art is awesome - I love the pendant that you were able to create!

I was thinking that about your poor delicate ribs. Ouch. But it looks awesome there!!!

Thanks darlin!  I don't know that there's much that's delicate about me, but on the ribs were thankfully not as hurty as I thought it was going to be.  Still hurty though.

So, now did Tony draw it up or did someone else.  I really like the design and flow of it.  I am actually thinking about one of my tri art pieces as my first TAT.  But, I am thinking about doing it white and not black.  Yes, I am different!!!  Maybe like the pendant design, and then I can put distances around it.  I have only done a 70.3.  140.6 is a goal for 2014.  So I am thinking about the design and then a 70.3 on top of it and when I complete a 140.6 I would put it below the design.

Actually Amyjotris was at the tattoo shop when I was getting it and kind of cobbled it together from other people's tats. Then the artist kind of customized it. It's pretty similar to what I've seen going around but with a little tweak here or there. Not exactly `custom' but it does have some unique elements.

Thanks Tony!!!  I was just going to try and look at more of their work if I could find out who it was.
