Andy Reid heading to Kansas City.

"They got some pretty little ladies there and he's gonna get him some..."

As some of us suspected, he's looking to build that team.  I'm happy for my in-laws who have stuck with the Chiefs for the rough years.

My wife's folks had season tickets there for years.  Decades even.  She is a die hard fan.  She remembers the Makavik years.  I hope this is a turn around for them.  And for her.  All she wants is to see them win the big one.  Once.  Just once.

That's all Eagles fans wanted. They still want it. The Chiefs may get there, but I doubt they will win it. Tell your wife and her folks to get used to a few key phrases:

I have to do a better job
The time's yours
I have to put the players in better position to be successful

Beat me to it with press conference phrases.

Seems he also tried to make players fit into a system, not taking what skills the players had and adapting his schemes.  Drafts McNabb, who had accuracy issues, and puts him in a system that needs accurate passing.

Also get ready for a poor game-time decisions.

But it worked here for a while, and I wish him well.

wgraves7582 - 2013-01-04 11:37 AM My only hope as a diehard Bronco fan is that he puts together teams like his past 3 seasons and not the years before that and SD and Oakland keep wallowing in the pit of dispair that they belong in.  I will take 6 easy wins a year no problem!

I agree with Oakland deserving their despair, but how does SD deserve theirs?  Because they're too classy? Or because they dance after every good play even when they're losing by 30 points?

SD should come-back.  They have been weighed-down for the last 5 years with NORV.  No coach has done less with so much talent.

If you can't tell, I'm a big Bolts fan.

I'm just hoping the Chargers can continue to function as the Saints' farm club. I'm quite pleased with Brees and Sproles coming from the AAA Bolts and a bit peeved that we passed on V-Jax!

I have nothing to say in response to this...

Solely based on the reason I am a Bronco's fan, dislike Rivers immensly, and pretty much hate all division rivals   Other than that - they are good in my book - I rooted for them against the 49'ers (to get drummed by more than 55-10 like my Broncos did earlier )

Rivers really needs a coach to rein him in.  He's been running ragged for years now with no coach saying "Phil, stop arguing with the 3rd string Offensive Tackle and focus on throwing it to the guys with the lightning bolts on their uniforms..."

Then again, after so many years, who knows how much longer he can last...

It's about who else is available. Andy has 3 seasons below .500 in 14 years of pro coaching, and 8 playoff wins. Name another coach on the market now with those statistics. I know that doesn't mean he can win a championship, I'm just saying if you were an owner and needed wins to generate revenue, Andy has proven he can do that.

Andy is a good guy and a good coach,
but it was time to go.

I wish him well with the Chiefs.

I think the Eagles need a quarterback to win the Super Bowl.
Anybody have any ideas how that's gonna happen?

You guys can have Romo.

PLEASE TAKE HIM!

And frankly, it was also a good opportunity to get rid of Pioli.  Hiring him was as big of a mistake as his hiring Romeo.  He was NOT liked in KC.  So this was a good opportunity to really start with a clean slate.

AND I keep saying this, but the team HAS some potential.  Not much, but some.  And they really need a strong coach, experienced coach, to come in, crack skulls and take charge.  Andy will do that.  The ONLY other coach that might have done that, if he even expressed any interest, would have been Cower.  But I don't think he was interested.

I think SD and Dallas should trade QB's.  Give both a fresh start.

Vince Young. Oh wait...wha?

In all sincerity; get Matt Hasselbeck as a 2 season bridge while you look at the draft.

He is so much like the person he disdained the most - Jay Cutler - worry about yourself boys and be a leader - You never see Brady, Manning, Elway, Montana and all the other greats acting like they did on the field - only them and Ryan Leaf.

You put Rivers in the right system he can still win - but the key is hiring the right person or trading him away to a tough coach that will put him in his place!

Brady whines to the refs and banters with opponents all the time.  Elway and Montana never did that.  Manning just sulks with that head-hang he does and chews-out his receivers for not getting open.  Then he throws a pass over the middle to hang them out to dry.

HAH! I think Phil would be getting the worse-end of that deal.  SD's line has been decent in the last few years so at least Romo could get off a pass without seeing stars.

Is it too early to predict draft picks?

Just saw that the Chargers want to talk to Lovie Smith...

This was an interesting quote:

"Lovie to the Chargers is an interesting concept. The Bears sent Smith packing because he couldn't make it work with a franchise quarterback behind a spotty offensive line. That sounds awfully close to what drove people nuts about Turner."

The interesting thing is that the Chargers haven't really looked for a coach.  But they're looking hard for a GM.  It seems a little like getting a business manager before hiring the lead singer of the band...

This article was pretty funny.

http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/dec/31/norv-turner-dont-expect-2013-chargers-playoffs/

Norv says "don't expect the playoffs in 2013."  So is he saying he took a 14-2 team to not-able to make the playoffs in 5 years?  Or is he saying that to suggest AJ Smith didn't help him out? Or is he helping his successor by lowering expectations?

Didn't we already see how this plays out with Steve Spurrier's brief stint in the NFL? Smart of Kelly to get out before the sanctions hit Oregon though.

Not with the current owners.  They only like offense.

What sanctions?

Didn't the Harbaughs just change the formula for a coach leaving college straight to the NFL?

I get where you're coming from where a successfull college coach, but unproven nfl coach shows-up in the NFL, there's usually problems.  But you also have a few recent success stories that show that it is possible to perform at the next level.

It's not that a college coach can't make the transition to the NFL.  Chip Kelly's coaching style is a bit gimmicky. The two point conversions, onside kicks, rarely punting. He's had a ton of success with it at Oregon, but I don't think it will work in the NFL. I don't know, it just reminds me of Spurrier's fun and gun.  Worked great in college, failed in the NFL.

As for the sanctions, Oregon offered to self-impose scholarship reductions and recruiting limitations.  The NCAA rejected that, so now Oregon has a date with the infractions committee this spring. I think it's safe to say that heavier penalties are in the future.

Gimmicky, I agree.  Harbaughs are kinda gimmicky too, but not as bad as Chip. Tom Brady basically runs a fun-and-gun offense in New England doesn't he?

I didn't know about the Oregon sanctions.  Can't say I'm surprised.  Any team that is successful is hiding some serious infractions.  Even Texas A&M with Johnny Football being photographed at a Heat game holding a stack of cash... He may not make it to his Redshirt Sophomore year...
