Cranberry Country Triathlon (Page 2)

Patty and I swam in Loon Pond today...no place was so shallow that you had to stand up which I think was the case last year. Bottom at the start of swim is sort of gooshy....feels like leaves are coating the bottom...visibility varies...saw some fish and some weeds that grow up to the surface that look like fishing line.

At the swim exit there are about 12 large concrete blocks sticking up. I hope they move them, but if not be careful as you could easily trip...they are scattered around...some in groups of 4-5 blocks.

• 7:55AM -- Wave 0: Elite Men and Women
• 8:00AM -- Wave 1: Men and Women 50+, Clydesdales, Athenas, Jr. Men and Women
• 8:10AM -- Wave 2: Men 20-34
• 8:15AM -- Wave 3: Women 20-34
• 8:20AM -- Wave 4: Women 35-49
• 8:30AM -- Wave 5: Men 35-39, Relay Teams
• 8:35AM -- Wave 6: Men 40-49

Cool..I'm in wave 1!!

I'll be with Max, Joanne, Amanda and me. We should be able to see the finish of the CT boys smack talk.

May have some motivation for me on the run, as lots of folks will be passing me...as the men 20-34 and then women 20-34 will be behind me. Thankfully they give us old, young, and overweight people 10' before the next wave starts

I don't remember if I reg'd AG or Athena for this race.  Probably Athena because I remember being in the first wave and being thankful for the headstart!

It looks like I'm going to be able to attend the pre-race get together.  Spouse is going one way for the day, son in another, and I am on my own 

Also, speaking of the son, (who is now 16) he volunteers whenever I race and I'm planning on bringing him to C'berry.  Two years ago he worked the water bottle hand up for the bike leg.  Managed to get back in from there and have an iced coffee waiting for me at the finish line.  Any wonder I love him so?? 

I'll be joining you guys in wave 4!       At least its not the last wave.

cool!! I can hit the snooze alarm and soothe my 'post sat. night BT party' hangover!! wave 6: 8:35 am!!

lol...everyone should be '1/2 in the wrapper', or perhaps FULLY in the wrapper before I finish!!!  save me a burger at least.

Hi folks -- logistical question for those who've been to Cranberry before --  How far is the parking area from the transition area, and how far is the parking area from the finish?  I'm asking because I'm bringin tri stuff (of course) a cooler with stuff for the post-race activities, a couple of chairs....  I thinking that I don't want to schlep all that stuff before the race and would rather leave some of it in the car.

let's just say that with all the BT'ers that will be there, we could make a human chain from wherever you park to where the party is going to be, and pass all your stuff from one person to the next and you will have nothing to schlep.  Yeah, it's not that far.

I don't think the chanting is working.  It's raining here now.  But I did just hear that if it does rain on Sunday it will be much later in the day.  I now have a new time goal.  Beat the rain.

In case you don't see a sign for the tri...it is easy to drive by it. It is the very first right after the police station....about 3 miles or so after you get off 95.

Parking is close lots of it...all around transtion.

Just over 37 hours until my swim start.....I'm excited!

	Dear Patty, At the request of the Lakeville, MA Police department we have made the decision to alter the bike course for this Sunday's Cranberry Country Triathlon. This change is being made to avoid the need to cross the intersection of Rte. 105 and Rte. 18. According to the Lakeville Police, the volume of CCT racers crossing this intersection has created safety concerns and significant traffic delays in the past. As a result, a section of the bike course has been re- routed to avoid this intersection completely. The distance of the new bike course is the same as the original course. The new section of the course is just as scenic (if not more) as the section it replaces, but more importantly, its a safer route. Maps of the revised course will be available at the Ted Williams Camp tomorrow (Saturday) during registration from 12:00 to 5:00 and on the morning of the race. Police and volunteers will be strategically placed across the bike course to ensure your safety and guide you on your route. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this change and look forward to seeing you on race day. Best Regards, Eric and Mark

Gosh, I've ridden this course many times over the last year, now they change it. The 105 part of the course, is the best part of the course nice and flat...aero all the way, but my guess is the part they are bypassing is the part with businesses and no/little shoulder.

Sue & I are driving it tomorrow we'll see. The old course really was 24.1 miles...not 24.9 as claimed.
