Here is a "60 Minutes" segment of free solo climber Alex Honnold. I wanted to throw up for most of it. No real "motivational" take away... I just can't believe a human being can do what he does. Phenomenal.

GomesBolt - 2013-05-03 6:53 PM Ugh. The original footage is painful, but so inspiring.

Sorry Powerman, I had to get the non-mobile version.  This is good though.  Definitely inspiring both for fathers and for people who know when not to give up.

GomesBolt - 2013-05-03 7:16 PM http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=uwyltmUR3MU&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch... classic.

"I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me FAST. And when I run, I feel his pleasure."

My son is really fast for a 6 year old and I tell him that all the time.

Again, removing the mobile-ness.

After the Marine Corps marathon I found myself sitting next to a young Marine who had finished about the same time I did, with two prosthetic legs.  We traded a few stories about the Corps from my time to his, and we talked about our HS track "careers", and I finally had to tell him how amazed I was at him, and others like him, who finished the race.  He said, "eh, do your legs hurt?"....I said, "yeah, they're killing me"....he said, "mine don't", with a big grin.  I will always remember my few moments with that young man.

Last American to win the Olympic 10K in 1964, the Billy Mills story is almost too good to be true.

LeftBrain, Was he wearing a Team Semper Fi singlet? I ran the MCM in 2008 with those guys. Like you said, a true inspiration that these men who have lost parts of their body seem to be more focused on helping to motivate others. Even today.

I don't remember that he was, Gomes.....but I sure remember the "guards" of Marines who escorted wheelchair bound Marines through the race.....I was so inspired and impressed by it.  I ran in 2011.....it will always be my best memory of my "endurance" career....no long distance Kayak race, no HIM, no IM, no nothing, could ever top what I saw there.

Another forum a young guy I know just diagnosed with leukaemia.  Just lost his hair, can't stop throwing up, just wants to feel well enough to train.

For him I just HTFU and get out there because I can.

And this one. Wow. It was a story done on ESPN. You might have seen it. It is 21 minutes, but there is just so much "right" in it, it is well worth it.

I can't tell you how many times I call myself names not able to be repeated here during work outs when i think I'm suffering. It may sound silly, but I do think of Beth Ann and shame myself into HTFU and getting it done.  The woman amazes me.

Wow, great article, great woman.  You say she's a friend of your wife, sounds like she is still going strong then.  Very inspiring indeed.
