Subject: RE: Street MeatThe only food I've ever gotten sick on was in the U.S. It was a chicken sandwich...from a restaurant... I had food poisoning for what seemed like FOREVER, and I was sure that death would have been a more favorable choice.
When I did some missionary work in Guatemala last summer, we had wonderful food at the orphanage we were working for. (Guacamole from freshly picked avacados and limes was by far my favorite! ) Even when we went to work in the highlands near Atitlán, the food was fine. (Not the water...just the food. )
However, my boyfriend spent 3 months doing missionary work in Bolivia and Guatemala, and he got sick 3 times during that trip -- twice in Guatemala, once in Bolivia. The food in Guatemala was from a street vendor (they wash their veggies with local water ), and the food in Bolivia was cooked by Americans. YIKES! |
