LMAO......Pelosi already running her pie hole regarding "fragile economy". These people could never play poker.

Just heard an analyst predict a recession like 2008.

I guess with impeachment over the talking heads need some drama. Crack me up with a see a ~25 yo political “expert” telling people what it all means.

I saw where SF has declared a state of emergency. LOL.

SF has been in a state of emergency for 10 years.....but nobody would say it. The Dems will hype this caronavirus for all it's worth....and whatever happens will be Trump's fault....unless it all works out fine for Trump....then it will be on to the next "groundhog day"!! LMAO. There is just no way to take anything the Dems say seriously. The way their primary season is going leaves them with no other option than hype against Trump. BTW....I know a family of 5 that are all conservative who will vote in their state primary as Democrats, so they can vote for Sanders. Election meddling? Just asking for a friend.

Maybe. I think the bottom line is they don't know yet. They are still learning. They don't understand this new case in California. Some countries seem to have a much higher death rate, although because the numbers are "small" the rates are still very skewed.

But when the head of DHS goes in front of the Senate and doesn't have a clue what he is talking about, this doesn't inspire confidence.
If Trump blows it off and says it will go away with Spring, that's ok, that's his "charm". But when the head of DHS doesn't know the details, that's not reassuring.

When you here about governments shutting down schools for a month, that is a sign some will go to extreme measures to try and contain it and that will have consequences on the global economy.

And if as many people contract Corona as the flu, 100,000 people could have died.

It is not time for a panic, but I'll take a little panic over denial.

I don't trust a SINGLE thing reported by the media....NOTHING!! Last week Russia was ripping into our elections... turns out it was all crap, even the "sources" came out to say, "no, that's not what we said". So now I'm supposed to trust their reporting on coronavirus?? GTFOH I'll pass. I might probably listen to Pelosi and Schumer over the media.....and I think they are two of the absolute dumbest people in Washington DC. (OK, no, in fairness, they won't pass Waters or AOC on the stupid scale) All we're missing now is the idiot Adam Schiff blaming this all on Russia helping Trump create the virus. HAHAHA!!!

So you are saying conrona virus is 20x deadlier? I don’t that that is accurate.

I think worrying about this is like worrying about the weather. Not really much can be done to “contain”
It I don’t care how many billions you throw at it. Many, if not most, people don’t go to the doctor when they are sick and most don’t “self quarantine”. We still go to the grocery store and to the mall when we are sick. It will spread just like the flu spreads every year. We can’t control that either.

I'm saying they don't know and until they do, better to be over cautious than under.
Some are saying 10x worse, I have heard 20x...way to early to tell. It seems much higher in some areas than other.

Do I believe I will die of this. Nope. I am more worried about Florida drivers during my bike rides.

They won't be able to completely control it but if they can limit it for a period of time, they will have a better chance of containing it with more knowledge.

The balance of caution and paranoia is hard to find.

PS : to LB. Try media sources outside the US. I personally like the BBC. The National Post in Canada seems to be covering this without political bend.

Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated cities on the planet.

I was in Tokyo a few years ago and saw a lot of locals wearing masks. I finally asked a woman why she wore the mask and asked if she was sick. She said no she was not sick. She wore it to keep from becoming sick. I found this a bit disconcerting.

Today I heard someone say the mask is to protect some who is infected from infecting someone else not to protect someone from becoming infected. Not sure I believe that. Seems to me it would do both.

I remember in the 80s there were predictions that in 10 years nearly half of America would have HIV. Guess some analist extrapolated some numbers....

I’ve never had a flu shot and have never had the flu in my life.

No one in our family gets flu shots....and nobody has ever had the actual flu either. We get the usual winter bugs/viruses....no flu yet. I'm sure it's perfectly harmless to inject a dead virus into your body every year.....but I'll pass. Coronavirus will probably kill all of us at once. LOL.

This is interesting. So if there are 10x the number of cases then the lethality is 1/10th of what is being reported. As Mike stated, it is highly contagious so would spread very rapidly suggesting there are thousands more people carrying the virus but are asymptomatic.
