I shouldn't be doing this race.  I should be out on my bike doing a 6 hour hard session but I always play hookey on bike training and as it is a good community event that brings out some old faces I will probably do it instead of the bike or maybe i can bike afterwards.  I'm certainly not going to be interested in the clock at this event.  more interested in rythm and temperature and old faces and new ones.  good luck everyone.  Have fun no matter what!

I'm doing the sprint at 2:50 pm.  (Heat #11

I'm a little nervous.  The last tri I did was 4 years ago.   (before I had to worry about strategies for managing my GPS through transitions

Just praying for good weather, and trying to figure out what the heck to wear.

My plans for the rain and what to wear:

Swim - tri shorts with wet bag ready to take to T1. Wet bag will have a pair of slip on shoes (for the run to T1), towel, socks - actually, as much of my Bike wear as possible to fit in the wet bag to ensure that it's dry and ready to go. I'm expecting the swim to take me between 20 - 25 minutes.

T1/pool deck - First off, whatever isn't in the wet bag, I'm thinking about putting in a cooler (if I'm allowed to bring it into the transition area) as it'd be a great way to keep everything dry - otherwise I'll just use garbage bags. The ensemble will include dry socks, going to pull on my running tights over my tri shorts (guy at Speed Theory recommended that and I tried it yesterday and it works great), throw on my HRM strap, a base layer Under Armor style t-shirt, a long sleeve shirt, and a cycling jacket. If it's really cold I'm going to put my running toque or a bandana on under my helmet because I have no hair anymore (cut it off a few months ago) and now I get cold, hah. I'll also consider wearing yellow or clear lenses for riding but I haven't decided on that for sure yet. As for gloves, I have a pair of neoprene gloves, but I don't often find them very warm, so I might not wear those and might just get a shell glove to put over something else. I'll also probably have a bright pink Cinderella towel or something like that draped over my bike so that I know where it is and it's easy to spot.

Bike - Take it slow in the corners, avoid the road lines, avoid anything that could remotely be considered drafting to avoid getting pelted in the face. Consume a gel or two, drink some Gatorade and/or water. I expect the bike to take me 40 - 45 minutes.

T2 - dry socks and runners (may not change socks, not sure yet) and a dry hat or toque and away I go.

Run - I figure I'll be running fast enough and/or I'll be miserable enough by that point that the cold won't be that much of a factor. I estimate the run will take me 25 - 30 minutes.

Theoretically, my max time will be about 1:40 and the fastest will be about 1:25. Anywhere in there I'll be pretty happy with. Actually, I'll be pretty happy just finishing this one...no real time goals or anything this time around. I just don't want to get pneumonia.

LOL Don't pee in the pool  LOL

HMMM let's see, swim then walk back to the start and see if they;yll let me swim again, go to change tent, chat a lot, while dressing in all dry warm clothes, jog to the bike, Do 8 or 10 laps, why bother to count and then run twice?   Hmmm  something to think about.  or not race and just bike till i drop off the saddle.  5 weeks to ironman!  I'm ready now!

Wow you are very specifig.

1. swim, wear the tri suit. goggles and a hat
2. run in bare feet to t1, where I think about maybe putting on a jacket. maybe
oh and shoes and maybe socks
Bike fast cause its the only thing I will able to do fast
4. 'run' put on some sweat pants, cause it might just be a stroll..
or not, I dunno./

this is too hard to think abotu at 3:30 pm when I have to pee.

Hah, being specific was as much for my own benefit as much as just killing time.

1. By hat, I presume you mean swim cap?
2. You know it's about 300m through the old bus loop/a parking lot to T1, right?

Go pee!
