East side of Michigan, Staying at holiday inn express about 10 miles out unless we can find camping, might be more fun You can camp at Cliffside Park in Racine. It's just a few miles north of downtown. They also have a Jellystone Park on Hwy 38, which isn't much further away. |

Category you are competing in: Steelhead F25-29, although I'm thinking of having it changed to Athena if I can 3. Area you are from and maybe where you are staying?- from NW Indiana, supposed to be staying at the Super 8 in Sawyer MI, but I just heard from someone else that they think they stayed there last year and it was sketchy 4. Your approximate goal time - Really, my goal is just to finish, I have absolutely no clue what to think about a finishing time 5. Is this your first, second, third HIM, etc?- First HIM 6. Anything else you want to say about this race. - I'm nervous about finishing this race. I feel fine about the swim and relatively ok about the bike, but the run has me worried. |

Extreme Veteran 394 Madison,WI | Subject: RE: HIM Racine Vs. Steelhead Competition Data 1.) AJ or Amanda 2.) Athena Steelhead 3.) Madison, WI will be staying at a friend's beach house less than a mile from the course 4.) My god, I've gone over this at least 100 times. I really must learn that these little decisions are not that big of a deal. Pick a time- go with it- try to beat it. So here goes: I'll be satisfied with a finish, under 6 hr 40 min would be better. I'm training through this race on the way to IM WI. Due to this, this will be a very conervative race for me....The following goals are more important to me than time: -make it to the start line healthy and to the finish line injury free with a smile on my face - zero in on a nutrition plan (not for an ironman nutrition plan, but figure out which foods mess with my stomach during the longer distance) -reap all of the experience I can...this will be my first half ever, longest race to date, and last event before IM. 5. First Half...a trainng stop on the way to Ironman 6. Pretty nervous about this one...Who knows where I'll be at this point in my training...It's also fairly close to IM so I know that will be in my head. I'm nervous about this race because I know it will hurt and I don't want to carry that thought into Ironman. This race will only make the distance realistic and tangible.....Part of me wants to operate on Ignorance is Bliss. If that makes sense? I'm worried about digestion/nutrition/gas/bloating...my stomach is pretty sensitive to all that. |

Sub 6hrs. By the time I'm in the run I'm sure 5:59 will sound just about fine! 5. This is my first HIM 6. Have been training well and all is going according to plan, however even 10 weeks away I'm starting to get that anxiety that it's just not enough time! Of course, that will fade, but still I'm very much looking forward to this race. Also looking for other sprints, olympics around the are to round out the season, I plan on doing the Chicago Accenture for sure. Look forward to seeing everyone there! Murph |

From Chicago area (Oak Park) and staying at the Knight's Inn in Racine (this is funny because I'm kind of a "hotel snob" but we just waited waaaay too long to get a room!) Because you and Jon are so nice and we have a few special things in common <wink> I'll make you this generous offer. I'll swap rooms with you (Marriott) if you'll pay for both. No, no, don't thank me, I'm just that nice of a guy. |

Champion 6627 Rochester Hills, Michigan | Subject: RE: HIM Racine Vs. Steelhead Competition Data 1. Rick Kreuser Oh, and since Steelhead is a 70.3 race, they don't follow USAT 'age up' rules...you race in the AG that you're actually in on race day. So if you're turning 40 in November (like I did last year), you'll race M35-39 this year, not M40-44. Last year's learning... |

1) Gannon 2)M35-39 3) South Bend, IN 4)5:30- 5:45 5) this is my 4th HIM 6) This CAN be a fast race, but if it decides to be a swelter-fest, then my run will be severly hampered, like last year. I think I perspired a small child or two off on the run. |

The Super 8 was the closest available, so that's what I got after waiting until 2 weeks ago to make reservations. Looks like a fairly new property, and I don't need the hotel to be much, so the bar's pretty low. I hope the super 8 can jump over it. |

Expert 783 South Bend, IN | Subject: RE: HIM Racine Vs. Steelhead Competition Data Hey everybody. I live in South Bend, IN, and I will drive to the race. It is only about 35-40 minutes away, at the most, and there are plenty of hotels and restaurants, that will NOT be packed for this race. There are a couple hotels right on the NW corner of SB on the bypass. This HWY puts you 22 miles from SJ-BH, and it has a 70 mph speed limit, so you do the math. If anybody has any questions, feel free to pm me. |

This is my first tri, therefore my first HIM.. 6. A little nervous about the race... After reading some stories from "first triathlons" i'm worried that i'll have a dnf. Swimming: Feel pretty good about this leg. Have been training w/ a masters club and refining technique. Bike: Not enough mileage. New to cycling in general. Completely exhausted after my first 56 mile training ride. Run: I think by mile 5 I may go bonkers... Glad to have found this site 2 months before the race.. looking forward to looking forward to meeting other BT's on the day of the race... |
