Hi everyone, I'm Keith. Was on a run challenge back in the fall and really enjoyed it -- it really helped me stay motivated and get out the door to log those miles! Now that I've started a real tri training plan towards my first tri in May, I need to get serious about swimming too. I also don't have a good idea yet what my pace is, though I know it's slow! That's why I chose time over distance. I'm also not pledging a huge amount of time, either, since I don't want to go too far over what my training plan calls for. (My plan calls for 3 hours, but I'm pledging to do 4.)

"Wet and Wild" is a fine name by me!

Just got done with a 30-minute bike trainer workout, and still have a 30-minute run (or elliptical) planned. Need to work off the holiday weight!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I don't really know what my pace is yet either. I know that I can swim about 15 laps in one session before my form goes to pot, so I just figured out how many days I would swim x 15. I'm hoping to go over my goal though because I want to push myself further each week.

Hi everyone!!

I'm Laura and this is my...fourth challenge I think? (I'm so addicted I've lost track!) I'm recovering from knee surgery on 12/14 and have just been cleared to swim, but it'll be a while before I can do any significant biking and running, so this month's swim team challenge is perfect for me! I've set my goal at a very conservative (based on my pre-surgery swim volumes) 12,000 yards for this month.

This morning I got back in the pool for the first time in 3 weeks and managed 800 yards - not a bad start!

Best of luck, all Wet & Wild swimmers!!

That's awesome Laura!  I did a lot of swimming around my knee surgery- LOTS of just arms only and it totally improved my swim.

Do I get to claim bonus yardage for doing my Polar Bear Swim yesterday in 42 F water??  Not the polar bear dip like most of the 2000 people who went out, but my friend (he almost chickened out til I told him I would never let him live it down) and I did the 100 yard sprint.  We didn't know what was going on so started late and way off to the side so we did a 150 yard sprint.  Were still part of the first 15 people out there, I was the 4th girl! 50 people probably attempted it and 30 probably made it out that far.  So you swim to the boat and then you have to swim the 100yards back to shore- which was so much harder!!!  It was fun, body parts were numb and I definitely wouldn't want to stay in the water any longer than we did.  Luckily we were prepared with lots of extra dry clothes so the chills weren't to bad.

I'm Eric and slow to actually find our thread.  Dee likes to pad her post count so it took me a while to skim thru the challenge thread and find it.   I swam competitively in high school and then bathed occasionally after that.  This is my 2nd full season in Tri's.  Last year, I knocked out 5 sprints and 3 olympics. I just dropped my cash this am to sign up for one of the two HIMs I'm planning on for this year.  I'm in for 16k but hoping to do more. After my last race in October I neglected the pool. My first race of this season is a sprint on 3/29 but my HIM comes up on 5/3.

I'm Alex & I'm aiming for 40,000 in the pool this month.  I'm another one  sentenced to swimming only due to an injury and have found the challenges as a great way to stay motivated to keep swimming instead of sitting around feeling sorry for myself b/c I can't swim or bike!  I've done tris the last two years and was also motivated by ACL surgery rehab to get into this.

Hope everyone's new year is off to a good start & happy swimming!

Hi Eric Awesome job on the races last season. I have yet to do one. I've done duathlons, but not tris. Hoping that at some point I'll get to the HIM and IM races!

Hi everyone. I'm Sarah, from Vancouver, WA. This is my first challenge! My goal is 15,000 for the month. But I did a 5k swim on New Year's day, so I guess my goal is a little weak... Whatever, 15k is 15k, right?

I started training for tris this past spring and have done 2 sprints. Aiming for some olympics this year and maybe a half IM. I'm having knee issues right now, so will be spending quality time in the pool in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for letting me join!

Welcome aboard Sarah,  I am Emerson and the opposite of you in that I run marathons for fun and run away from pools.  All jokes aside, be careful with the knees.  Mess one up and it can put you out for a long time.  You are smart to give it some rest.

Glad to have you in the group, they chatter so much it is hard to keep up with all the entries.  Go away for a day or two and you will never catch up.  My work, life and training are really getting in the way of reading all the fun items here...

I look forward to watching your amazing stats stack up...

Hello all!

I'm Ellie and my goal is 13,500m, which I swim during my lunch hour or after work down the street at Rutgers-Newark.

I joined this challenge to keep myself motivated while it's cold outside. I get uber lazy in the winter...it's so dark out. I just participated in December's challenge and managed to squeak my goal in before my pool closed for Christmas & New Years. They're back open this weekend, so I won't be jumping in until Monday.

I'm not registered for any tris yet this year. I'm hoping to change that after payday!

me me me ... Had a great swim and felt good to get wet again. I'm scheduled to swim 3 days a week so will do my best to keep my logs up there.

I see some people don't have anything in yet, so let's get rolling. Sunday should be  a25% completion rate for all of us. Let's get rolling, and get wet! wet! wet!

I'm heading to the pool after work! Well, after spin and lifting anyway. I have 5700m down so far. Tonight we're working on different swim strokes, so the lap count will be low, but the effort will be high. Way high. :-)

Happy swimming everyone!
