I'm sure I'll have a terrible time getting to bed tonight! I was considering a nap, but I'm too jazzed, so I went running instead. I'm guessing that isn't going to work for you, Jen. Have a great time at dinner - the chocolate bombs sound amazing. Good luck tomorrow, Kristen! |

No mention of the damage around her part of town. Just that they closed the pool so she didn't get her swim in today.kns57 - 2008-03-15 7:07 AM Good morning Nibbs. It looks like a tornado hit downtown Atlanta. If it wasn't a tornado, it was really high winds. It tore apart brick buildings, took pieces off of the Georgia dome roof while the basketball game was going on. Blew out hotel windows. Mess everywhere they are saying. You o.k. Kendra? Anyone heard from Mila? Glad the Atlanta folks weren't involved in the bad weather! |

Pro 4216 Sous Mon Diadème | Subject: RE: Nibbs XVII Alrighty then, inquiring minds... I live just north of the city. I'm in Fulton County so I'm in the same county (which is huge) as the hardest hit area yesterday. However, today a few of the northern suburbs got hit very hard. Many of our families (including mine) spent a good deal of time in basements. I was at work and we had to hang out in the locker rooms whenever the tornado warning sirens went off. Last week's tornado in my town took out a few rooftops as well as 300 trees in the park where I run... obviously we are still dealing with that mess. So much for shady summertime runs. In fact, we are still kinda dealing with a tornado 2 years ago that leveled some businesses and wreaked havoc on a very upscale neighborhood. I didn't grow up with tornado warnings and watches and touchdowns so this is all relatively new to me. Of course, the biggest problem at our house at the moment is that we had basketball tickets for tomorrow... waiting to see if we're rerouted to GA Tech now that the GA Dome has a few gaping holes in it, or if we'll just take a pass... |

I wanted to be kind of slow today so that I wouldn't be very tired for the half tomorrow. Good thinking on keeping it in check to save some leg for tomorrow... nice job!!! Have a great run tomorrow.

But well, you know.... Fortunately, the funnel cloud wasn't touching down. I was listening to the TV, (until the power went out,) and they were saying that the funnel had been sighted, but wasn't on the ground. If they'd been saying differently, well, I would not have been standing by the window. (I know, I know. You don't need to say it. I mean, the guy on the TV was already yelling "go to an inside room immediately!" But it was kinda cool watching those swirly clouds.) The power came back on a couple of hours later.... |

Yes, well, the one two years ago was in the middle of the night. I heard the sirens. Exhibit C was a baby and he woke up, but we didn't wanna wake the other two up if we didn't have to so we, uhhhh... watched out the window so we could see it coming and get the kids if need be... you know, we stood right under the huge palladian window... DUH! It was my first tornado. I learned my lesson, fortunately not the hard way. Isn't the sound they make unreal??? |

Mother nature has a bad sense of humor sometimes Are you kidding? They had a blast... finished basement with zillions of toys and their father who is far "funner" than I could ever hope to be!!! They did manage to run a few errands between storms so at least they got out a bit. They also got a kick out of the part where it was raining in the front yard (yes, they went out and played basketball in the rain) but it wasn't raining in the back yard. Isolated showers is a great description . |

The sun actually peeked through once the race got started. I did not do as well as I wanted. I had problems with nutrition and what I think might be a stomach bug. I'm not sure if what I'm feeling is from the lack of nutrition with the run or some stomach flu. Right now, I'm leaning towards stomach flu. Yuck. Did not make for my best run. |
