TheSchwamm - 2008-07-17 12:00 PM es a heart attack!
But why does what you wear to church matter, assuming all naughty bits are covered and such? There likely wouldn't have been any comments if the skirt had been black. So why does the freakin' print on the skirt matter?

It doesn't. At least not to me. But I know a lot of folks from church who are very particular about what they wear. And so I find myself being aware of it.

Sprint_DA - 2008-07-17 10:02 AM Too much car talk? Where'd all the womens go?

Ding.

Yay!

Oops I was working. My bad! Shoes: I got a pair of Jessica Simpson brand black pumps on sale last week... wearing them today. Not bad! A little uncomfy, but all 3-inch heels are.

I used to wear heels ALL the time, except in the summer. Now I wear some heels, some flats, some kitten-heels, etc. With all the running, I try not to stress out my knees too much. But I love heels cuz I'm a shortie.

How short? Dudette, you're starting to scare me a little bit as you remind me eerily of myself, excepting the shoes.

I'm 5' 2" and 3/4, so I round up to 5' 3" I mean it's not freakishly short, but it just means that I can date guys who are only like 5'8" And I'm pretty petite, so I just look kinda small in general.

Standing a mere 5' 0" I'm on the cusp of freakishly short.  I once went out with a guy that was 6' 4", the height difference didn't really bother me as much as the personality difference. Alas.

Haha, when I was in college one week I wore those kinda boots (just to the knee, nothing truly bad) and a leopard print skirt and black top to church and I had multiple comments from people insinuating that it was bad to wear them to church. Bah.

Might have been the whole outfit - leopard and black and the boots altogether, that turned heads. I've worn my boots with a very modest sweater dress (a lot of girls wear them with wrap dresses to church) to church in the winter and it just kinda looks sophisticated.

NOT saying you looked bad, I just try to make sure I don't give any of the conservative old grannies a heart attack!

But why does what you wear to church matter, assuming all naughty bits are covered and such? There likely wouldn't have been any comments if the skirt had been black. So why does the freakin' print on the skirt matter?

One word.

Perception.

Because when many people walk into a church they immediately assume they have the right to judge anyone and everyone around them for anything at all. They're in church, after all.

Not sayin' it's right. Just saying that in a church setting, esp. one that is fairly conservative, these things are observed and commented on. To an extent I understand why, but some folk take it to extremes of being judgemental. I just try to play it safe.

The print shouldn't matter, but I think there are some people who have nothing better to do than get offended at certain things.  Plus people are set in there ways.  Though  I must seen a number of outfits over the years that covered naughty bits but that I wouldn't wear to a club.  Personally, though I'm not that fussed with what people wear to church, unless they are purposefully trying to be scandalous.

No, it's not even really that. I don't want TAN to get yanked, but it's not always about people just being judgemental. PM me if you want.

OK - I am back from the games.  It was incredible.  A rundown:

I competed in the following events:

500 Yd Freestyle - 12:36 - 6th in my age group.

4X50 Freestyle Relay - Not sure on the time, I think we beat one of the female teams - I am not a sprinter.  I think my leg was 42.34 seconds.  Oh yeah - and starting off of the starting pedestal - I should probably practice that some time.

5K run - 36.48 - new PR.  After I finished I ran back out and walked in with a couple of very special people.

5K Cycling Time Trail - 10:24 - Bronze Medal

20K Cycling Road Race - 59:59 - 8th out of 13 in my age group.  Huge hill kicked my butt.

For everything else that happened (and there is so much) you will have to read my blog for today.  I can't bear to type it again, as it is way too emotional.

Thanks, but I'm the wrong person to talk to about churches and what goes on in them. If it were legal I'd be fully on board burning every church in my town to the ground and peeing on the ashes.
