Master 2621 Almaden Valley, San Jose, California | Subject: RE: QUEEN ZIP & KathyG - CLOSED Great advice, Kathy. I'm lucky enough to not be working, but with my mom-stuff, I still have limited hours with blocks long enough for training. This weekend I'll be on a pool deck 10 hours each day at a big swim meet (I'm a swim referee) when everyone else is doing their long runs and rides. So I'm really struggling with fatigue, because I'm trying to cram it in when I can, rather than following a reasonable schedule. I just heard about it from my coach/hubby - ran hard hills with him on Sunday, and then ran long again on my own today. (YEA!!! 13.25 miles in a hair under 2 hours, I'm REALLY jazzed about it, didn't think I could do it) I'm hurting - may not have been the best idea - but I'll be damned if I'll admit it!! LOL..... I'm also getting blisters and hot spots on my feet for the first time ever....same shoes and socks, anyone else dealt with this sort of thing out of the blue? Tomorrow I'm going for a bike fitting, and I'm real excited! My bike shoes just came in, so I'll get pedals and get videoed and critiqued and fit... and then I'll probably go out and fall on my butt with this new-fangled pedal thing! The learning curve is big.... I hope the clip-ins make a difference, I've been counting on it as I've been riding in my run shoes! Good entries in the forum today - lots of fun to read. I'll add to the crappy food list - I have a dinner tonight, and I'll be drinking chocolate martinis!! Can't wait..... Linda |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: QUEEN ZIP & KathyG - CLOSED Bike fit is a very cool process. He asked me what I thought. Looked at me ride on the trainer. Made adjustments, more adjustments....changed out the saddle. Putzed with the aero bars. I have to pick it up tomorrow because the aero bars need more work. What he did: raise original saddle, brought it forward. I was still sitting too far back on it (comfort issues) so he changed it to a split saddle (really cool looking too has zebra stripes). Put a different set of aero bars on but the geometry wasn't right cause now my knees hit my elbows and my wrists are at a wierd angle. Putzed with other bars, finally took extension pieces out of one set and put them in the original ones on my bike. He needs to change out the bar end shifters and all which is why I had to leave it. He thought about cutting the stag bar back to move my brakes in more but we decided it would change my position too much with coming out of aero to get there. I learned a bit about how all the stuff goes on and off and the rationale of why the position is the way it is. Pretty cool. |

Told me to wear my bike clothes, and they'd measure and video and all that. I'll keep you all posted! Off to my martini(s!) Linda |

I just did the 8 week bike focus and had a had time keeping up with the workouts as posted. I didn't find a lot of detail in them for specifics on the plan.Ok need some advice....I was planning on getting this FAB local coach to steer me to Timberman. I think anything here would be affordable compared to Rick so should I just go gold? Last year I bought a book of workouts from Triathlete magazine with workouts for a variety of levels (sprint to IM) that was very detailed and only about $20...only down fall was not having the person who wrote the plan to help me understand things . Swim sessions were not the best in it, I used my resources withthe www.triswimcoach.com flip book |

That would be worth it because as a silver member I cn't get into the on line coach support you could get with gold. Definitely less expensive than a private coach and from what I see well worth the investment. |

You can ask the coaches questions on the specific plan and they are all lovely.

Expert 687 Cambridge, MA | Subject: RE: QUEEN ZIP & KathyG - CLOSED Speed work for me, too. Well, a track workout, and I'm going to try to go fast... fast for me, anyway! I'm a few weeks into my 10k plan (not very aggressive plan... almost a "Couch To ..." ) and last time I was just keeping up with the folks who haven't been training at all. Didn't hurt myself terribly snowboarding last night (only one big butt bruise), but picking myself up off the snow repeatedly was a good core and upper body workout! I also can only turn one way (toe-side) so my forefeet seemed to get fatigued and start burning quick. Don't think I'll feel much of the effect of that at the track tonight, but before I went on the lift I did a little stretching and it feels like I my right hamstring is oddly tight and achy. Not sure if I pulled it or did something bad to it or what the issue is. I'll be careful tonight, but trying to figure out how to be good to it after-- heating pad? ice? hot tub? massage? I was holding out for the end of the month for a massage reward to myself if I get most of my goals in, but could cash in early if it'll help. |

I think anything here would be affordable compared to Rick so should I just go gold? Coaching varies in price a lot. My coaches have all been under $130/month. Sure there are lot of other great coaches but more money isn't an option for me so our budget limits which coaches I'll consider and which plan they offer I'll use. You don't need to use a local coach which gives you many more options. It is nice to be able to see them at times. You should ask some folks that are gold to see if it is worth it to them. Ask Mav so far she isn't so impressed. A coach is a relationship so you need to make sure you have a good fit and they understand your goals and support them. You also want to know how they work with clients and if that works for you.
