I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the on course nutrition changes. I saw a press release that bonk breaker is now the on course bar and it looks like Gu will be the gel. It's also loo,inf like another good weekend next weekend. Anybody going ou on the course? I rode 15 miles of it yesterday and it was super fast going cSouth and brutal going north. Let's hope for very little wind come race day

Thanks for the nutrition update. I am not sure if I will pedal the course on Saturday, depends on a bunch of stuff but, I am planning on running about 10 miles of the run course on Sunday.

Thanks to all of those who have supplied course updates and other info. Training has been going pretty good for me. The winter here in Portland, OR has been pretty mild all things considered but have still had to do a lot of time of the trainer.

My February totals were

Swim 9.5 hours 20,300 yards

Bike 21 hours 366 miles

Run 14 hours 100 miles

Feeling really healthy and the most exciting news on my front is I got a killer deal on a Powertap so I am now training and will be racing with power.

the wind has been a killer in south florida.  20-25 mph sustained.  this past sunday, we rode 42 miles into a 23 mph head wind, turned around, had the wind at our back for 20 miles, and then a front moved through with 30-40 mph gusts for a few miles and then a 25 mph head wind the rest of the way home.  we may not have hills in south florida, but we have wind (and plenty of it this year).

Wow.  That was a fun weekend.  I'm jealous of all of you that could actually work out outside. We were pounded with 3 feet of snow overnight on Friday, lost power for 30 some hours and had many local roads completely impassable from snow drifts, downed trees, and power lines.  Many around here still don't have power and some schools are still closed. Winter came all at once and now spring can't come soon enough.

On a lighter note, my Feb totals

S:  23,050yds     B: 349 miles    R: 62 miles

If you want to ride on Saturday meet at the band shell in the park at 1 pm. We will ride the new course. If you do not want to pay to park you can park by the baseball field north of the park. Half of the parking is pay and the other half is free. This is if the weather hold out. If you PM me and let me know that you are going to be there we will wait for you other wise we are off at 1 pm.

I would say mostly flat although there is one pretty good hill that will have to be done twice.

For riding Saturday, hard saying, I don't want to hold anyone back, my longest ride so far is 40 miles on the trainer, no idea how I would perform.

I may coincidentally be out there on Saturday. I'll be the one on the cracked matte black bike. I found a crack in my seat post clamp/ seat mast confluence a couple of weeks ago. Still been riding it but it's getting worse. Still waiting on a frame replacement and I'll ride it until it breaks.

Seconded!  I would love to be able to compare it to some of the "hills" around here so I know where to do my repeats!

See back a ways and you will see a post I made with elevation info and a map. Can't remember I'd I put the grade but, there is at least one 6% hill that went on for awhile.

I went down and up the big hill. At least I think it was the big hill. It's not an easy climb. It's about 2 miles of pretty solid climbing. There were 2 sections where the grade went down a little but it was still a small chain ring hill. I was riding into a headwind going up it but that is the normal wind direction out there. For a lot of it I was around 11-13 mph. For reference I rode around 5:10 on the old course 2 years ago. I'm not in that shape righ now though. By no means are these hills easy. This course will be fast as its really fast going north and a lot of grinding it slightly uphill and into a headwind going south.

I was the only one. I think that the weather keep some at home. It did not rain on me but for about 10 min and it was not very hard. had a great ride. It was kind of windy thought. there was one other person out on the course. I have lost more that I would have hoped over the winter. I need lots more days like this so I can get out side and ride.

Got back into town too late to meet for the ride but did another route and finished up with 62 miles.  Weather wasn't great but not too bad either.  And yeah, I need a lot more days on the bike to get back into shape.

I rode a loop+ on the CT this morning and... oh boy.  I have a lot of work to do before June.

I hope that like every other course I've ridden on the CT and then in real life, that the CT is a lot harder!

Jealous of you guys that get to do it for practice.  I'll be doing a lot of hill repeats from here on out.

Toughest weekend so far.  45 min high RPM, Z1 ride yesterday morning followed by a HM (PR by over 2 minutes!).  Then 4 hours on the CT this morning riding the IM Canada course and a 30 min brick run.  My legs didn't want to move during the brick run and felt like jello walking up there stairs in the house.  Looking forward to a rest day tomorrow!

For those following the 30 week Finke plan, we're halfway there!
