Keeping busy with the training. Today was a "race simulation", s/b/r. But I ended up bagging the short run portion and turning in my imaginary timing chip. I don't plan on doing too many of these, but it was a good learning experience. One thing I learned was that 48 degrees and windy may be too cold for me to do tris. "T1" took about 30 minutes because I had to sit in the car with the heat blasting for 20+ minutes before I could get on the bike.

yesterday was a trail run. I came close to skipping that run as well. The only thing that go me on the trail in the cold rain was the thought of doing a 2hr treadmill run :-)

Glad you are back at it Ken. Your first full of the season will be here before you know it.

I did not beat the train, but the ride was amazing and I carbo-loaded like a champ!

DJ, you should check out this ride for next year, I think you would love it. It is hard-core, and Durango is a great town.

And now it's crunch time...4 weeks until my A race (2 weeks until dress rehearsal sprint race).

Spent the past 3 days doing different trainer rides - it wasn't too bad. Kinda nice to come back inside and really focus on spinning, HR etc..while not worrying about weather (it was only 54 degrees in my house on Saturday - I refuse to turn the heat on - especially Memorial weekend!), traffic, etc...

Heading out for a run soon. Spending the rest of the week trying to figure out how best to acclimate to the 90 degree weather heading this way for race weekend. Good times!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a good 10k today in perfect weather and crushed my 21 y/o self with 40:15. My friends all hit their various goals as well, so a nice morning.

Get some late day runs and bikes in once it warms up! Don't discount the value of the trainer!

Awesome to hear Ken!

I have been quiet because I've been very sick with a cold/sore throat all weekend. I didn't want to spread it to other people, but I really felt like cr@p to really put in a trainer ride. Finally started to get over it yesterday, and put in an easy trainer ride today just to get my legs spinning. Felt pretty good, like I was back to my old self again...if not, stronger! It's strange, but I think it's probably mainly due to being well rested for a while.

Anyone here a Fleetwood Mac fan? I am not a Fleetwood Mac fan, but I am now! I went to their concert yesterday. Thank goodness my nose decided to stop running and coughing was kept to a minimum. I loved them!! Awesome concert!

Happy Memorial Day. Here's a video I did a few years ago for my Dad who came home from his tour in Iraq, and my brother who was in Afghanistan at the time (he's home now). Enjoy!

That is an impressive video DJ!  Nice!

I like Fleetwood Mac, but have never seen them in concert.  Glad you are starting to feel better!

I did enjoy my weekend. The weather was cooler and perfect for a Memorial Day 5k. However, I could have done without the frost the past 3 nights. That is totally ridiculous when it is almost June!
I am starting back to PT for my PF/achilles issues Thursday. I hope it helps calm things down - next week is the official "start" of my training plan for B2B. I am actually excited to get back into a regular routine of workouts that I don't have to think about!

Been out of the loop for a while. had an extended time away with the family last week so not much on the workouts. I did get to a bikeshop last week and had a Retul fit on my road and tri bikes. I was surprised to find that the system recommended I lift my saddle by almost 5 CM which is very significant, but I am going to try it and see how it feels. I really need to ease into it since the change is so radical.

I need to refocus my training for the next few months and begin increasing the length of my workouts. I am basically half way there.

Wow! THat's quite a bit. Did they change the fore/aft of your seat? How about the cockpit?

When I had a Guru fit, it was found that I have a preference of an aggressive fit, so my fitter lowered my handlebars (maybe 6cm?) AND my seat, and moved it more back. It was weird at first, but then I settled in much more comfortable and I didn't have the achy neck/shoulder issues that I've had. I think now it's a little bit too aggressive for very long rides, so I may raise the handlebars just a notch for longer rides.

Yeah, I agree, ease into it a bit.

I hope you get the PF under control!  It seems to be way too popular a topic around here lately!

I agree that is a lot Eddie, but if it wasn't set professionally to begin with it may not be off.  But, at the end of the day, the fit has to be for you and comfortable and prevent injury!!

The cockpit changed relative to the increase in saddle height. I plan on doing a longer ride today and will have a better feeling of how the new fit will effect power etc.

Went out for a 6 mile run yesterday and definitely felt the effect of the reduced workouts, too much eating of bad food, drinking too much wine and beer and being dehydrated. I hope my bike ride today will be better than my run yesterday.

When I did my trainer ride on Monday, I found my back tire to be flat. Pumped it up to determine if it's a flat or a slow leak. Did my trainer ride, no flat. Overnight, it was flat again. I remember the last time that something very similar happened, it was a super tiny thorn (which I took a picture of, if anyone is interested). So, last night, I did my inspection. Found the very tiny hole in the tube then matched it up on my tire and found this super tiny wire. I had to use my tweezers to get it out because it was not sticking out of the tire.
wire

Boys and Girls: ALWAYS inspect your tires to figure out what's causing a slow leak. Do not dismiss it, otherwise you will get a flat again and again.

I patched up the tube and I'm good to go.

Wow -- good eyes! Not sure I would have spotted that.

Core workout this AM then an easy 2000m swim.

Rain today then into the 90's for the weekend. It looks like Sunday will top out around 80 for the HIM so not too bad as long as the thunderstorms hold off until evening.

Wow, that is tiny!

Good advice, always a reason the tire goes flat!!

Yes, it does seem to be an unfortunately common topic! Hopefully the PT tomorrow is the start of something good! I am meeting some friends tonight after work for about a 2 hour bike ride. It is finally a beautiful day for a ride. Sunny and 86 - perfect for me! Hope everyone else is having a good day!

I'm predicting no storms for your HIM. last year I thing it poured all over the Oly racers and was nice for the Half. I'm calling for clear skies for everyone this year :-)
