Congrats!

Came for work to a small town in Portugal near Oporto, beautiful 8k run on slightly windy but sunny afternoon (and empty) beach!

Sounds amazing! Btw, I will officially be in Barcelona from Sept 9-14. Not sure if you will happen to be there then but let me know if you are! I looked at flights into Madrid and they were pretty pricey :-/

Home over the weekend for 48 hours. Only 2:30 sleep Friday night due to travel thus no workout over the weekend which was frustrating with nice weather. Back in DC today and overnighting in Houston tonight. There’s that 1.5 mile running trail near the hotel I’m going to run tomorrow. I’d love to have access to a pool or spin bike though. I may have to contact “new Nicole” to see if she knows of anything near where'll be. Wednesday will be a very long day plus commute home so no workout then. May has been a tight month and the clock is ticking. I’m way far behind on my training plan but trying to get something done.

Wow, what a weekend at Wildflower. Spent Saturday paddle boarding, hiking, and a bit of biking around the campground before spending the afternoon at the festival area while enjoying a couple good beers (Union Jack IPA by Firestone) and live music. Sunday was race day, here is the race report. I was sporting my BDAS jersey and there were a bunch of fun comments on the course. During climbs on the bike I heard "a beer sounds good!" a couple times and was nicknamed "Hops Guy" by one of the runners in the pack suffering up the long hill. A volunteer at an aid station yelled out "BDAS? More like BADASS !!". After the race I celebrated with the new Lager by Firestone. Not my usual Racer5 IPA however they have shown how to make a good lager, crisp with the perfect amount of bitter hit the spot on the hot afternoon.

Did 200 yds with some teammates this morning. Felt tired, but it was also a hard set. My hamstrings are super tight now. That could also be from volleyball last night (first time on the beach since last September).

Mark - Congrats on the race and I still want one of those tops as well, that is awesome!

I ended my race and headed back to the house, wasn't much going on post race. For those that were asking, I did settle in at the house with a Blackstone APA, local brewery here in Nashville. I like IPA's but really like this APA they make, really smooth and easy to drink yet still full of flavor like you get from an IPA.

Terrible question for a BDAS member to ask, but what is an APA? I know I could google it, but would rather ask someone I know who is knowledgeable

Donated blood yesterday afternoon but was still able to make it through boot camp this morning (and ran there, and ran/walked back, about a mile each way). Feeling a little light headed now but trying to make up for it with snacks

"American Pale Ale", variant on the IPA (India Pale Ale).

Ahhh makes sense! I will have to find one to try! Typically I'm not an IPA person but I've been slowly trying to acquire a taste for them. I made the change from sweet white wines to dryer red wines so I feel like it's possible!

Nicole, I wasn’t 100% sure what an APA is either so I’m psyched I learned something today (and it’s about beer!! Bonus!)

Thursday I was finally home and while it was nice it was incredibly windy. I ended up in the trainer for 2 hours instead. Friday I did a spin class followed by a 2500 yd swim. My stomach felt off (I think from stress) and I swam a bit slower than my already slow pace but I will say I came out of the pool feeling better than when I went in. It was my birthday too so maybe turning 29 again had me discombobulated. Hahahaa
Overnighting in Jacksonville tonight - long day and an early show tomorrow so an off day for me. Tomorrow I’ll be in Des Moines, IA for the first time in my life so hoping to find a gym, pool, or a good place for a long run.

Happy Mother’s Day to any moms!

Yes happy mother's day!

Way to get a long run in while travelling, Jenn!

Went to masters on Saturday. My coach decided he wanted to kill us. Did some drills, did a lot of breaststroke, and our last set was long. 4 75s in 2:15, then 2 125s in 2:15, 3 times, plus 2 more 75s at the end. It was our first outdoor practice though so we got to slide down the slide at the end

After a week of "recovery" (more like being lazy) I went for a nice 9 mile trail run over the weekend. Legs felt great and it was good to get moving after a rough race. Time to get back into the regular workouts!

I hurt my knee and neck on Sunday playing football. Went for a swim yesterday morning and felt okay, although it was definitely a rough one. Swam about 2200 yards. Taking it easy today, and will go for another swim tomorrow.

Hello!!!!

I'm back from Egypt and jumping right into training. Just 21 weeks until Naptown HIM and I'm already freaking out! That might have something to do with my abysmal performance at the pool this morning--1200m and I thought I was going to die. For the first time ever, I had to sit out reps. Could be the six months I took off swimming, but let's not talk about that!
