i146q - 2008-03-19 8:55 PM I agree, it's your choice and you certainly made an informed one! I know it's really hard to stick by your guns sometimes. Do you stay on this eating plan until you get to where you want to be?

Yeah, you do.  Well, at least I'm planning too.  Obviously, things might change down the road, but I'm planning on staying on it until the end of this year, and then re-evaluating where I'm at.  I am losing weight fast though, so the re-evaluation point might come sooner, which would be great - cause I'm definitely not planning on doing this forever.

Do they also have you seeing a nutritionist in their office or over the phone to help evaluate progress or the program in general? ( like weight watchers?) And are you seeing a physician regularly or a nutritionist who is not biased towards this program? (third party).

found a chart i had from last year this time. my weight was 219 today im 207 hope i lose weight a bit faster from now on. my waist was 42.5 and today is 38.25. talk about slow and not so steady. got to do better if im to win the DOG EAT DOG CHALLENGE.

If you could cut out one sweet for the wk what would it be???? How about the ice cream you were talking about earlier? You know I used to be addicted to ice cream, it's what either made me balloon or kept me from losing... Try cutting one thing out just for a wk, and boosting water for that same wk. see if you drop ....

I'm sick...for the third time this year. I'm taking today off to rest a bit and then taking the advice that I got earlier this year for when to work out when you're sick and I'm going to go tomorrow. I've got a pretty good momentum going with my training at this point and taking an extended break now would definitely be a very bad thing to do.

I think I had a breakthrough while swimming yesterday. I need to practice some more, but may have figured out what works for me as far as swimming with my face in the water

So, I bought a new scale that measures body fat and hydration. What is a good hydration percentage for me to have?

saling4 - 2008-03-20 8:29 AM GO for it Josh, Bet you can't do it. I am thinking by Sunday you will be back up. Let me know Sunday's weight. Yes I picked my words carefully in case I have to eat them later.
I'll take that challenge, wink, wink, nudge, nudge! This wk, even before wed, I was already kicking it up a notch by adding two other routines to the daily training regiment, to see if I could blast through the 189- 190 bench mark. I had to take tonight off, however, I'm just exhausted. I've already amended my logs to reflect the changes. But for Fri. and Sat. it's back to kicking it up a notch. Might even add some extra cardio on my regularly scheduled day off (Sun). But, Sun, it is I'll let you know.

Josh, what's your BF%?  I'm just wondering because with the amount of stuff you're doing, I'd think you'd be losing more - are you just trading fat mass for muscle mass?

Congrats on the swimming breakthrough - those are key!

As far as hydration - over 45% (at least that's what the little booklet I got with mine said)  but I'm sure you could also look it up on the net.

What kind did you get? I just got a WW scale which does everything and so far has been really fun to have.

They have nutritionists on staff where you can post questions if you have them, and a number you can call if you need to.  Which was one of the things that attracted me to the program.  Also, after researching the different options (Jenny Craig, Nutri-Systems, etc.) Medifast just seemed from both a medical standpoint (they've done studies with it at Johns Hopkins, for example) and from an effectiveness standpoint (reviews from people said it worked fast and the best) that it was the best choice.

No, I haven't seen my regular doc since I've gone on this program, but I'm feeling really good generally.  If I start having bad physical symptoms, that would be another matter.

One of the VERY positive things that's happening for me is that I am no longer having GI distress on a regular basis.  I have a mild case of IBS, and before about once a week or so I'd be feeling sick/stomach cramps/GI issues over something I ate.  I haven't had ANY of that on this program except the one time that I had ham for dinner.  So, now I know that ham is something I can't eat, and I'm really excited about being able to finally identify my trigger foods once and for all.

To be honest, I had talked to my doc about my weight issue last time I saw her and she had NOTHING to offer me in the way of help or good advice.  I also spoke to her about the IBS stuff  and again NOTHING.  So, at this point, I kinda feel like I could really care less about what my doc thinks about what I'm doing.  It's working and I generally feel good, and that's what matters.

It's kind of funny with docs...after I first started losing weight 2 years ago, I went to the doctor's office for another reason and my doc (a slightly overweight woman) asked me what I was doing because she can never lose weight herself and she wanted advice to give other patients.

I got a Taylor I think. I haven't looked in the booklet for anything else but how to set it up. I'll see if it has anything for me there.

Is it too late to join the madness?

So at the begining of the month I weighed 149lbs and decided I wanted to lose weight but I had some trouble getting started, so 2 weeks later I was still at the same point, maybe a bit heavier (by like a pound) but now I've managed to stick to a healthy diet and I'm down to 147lbs as of this morning! So my goal for March has been attained already in terms of weight, but now I'm continuing with the healthy eating strategy and I'm hoping to drop another pound or so by the end of the month, so that would make my goal weight 146 lbs for March 31!

It's my new bike- picked it up from the shop today, along with a YOUTH size helmet ;) . Going cycling tomorrow no matter what or shall I say regardless of the weather conditions.

ok, I'm in @ 224
I had a string of bad luck, I had to have my Thyroid nuked and all function had to stop before I could start taking the meds. I gained 5-6 lbs in 2 weeks while training 8+ hours per week.
I got my meds on Friday so It's game on.

Goal, 220 by the EOM, and 210 by 70.3 Florida May 18th.

Good luck to all,

-Brian

I forgot to mention earlier my overall weight loss goal: I want to weigh in at 125-130lbs (I'm not quite sure, never been that low!) by the end of July (so about 4-5 lbs per month)

Another VO2 test today.  Got to Max HR and VO2 this time.  VO2 had only a slight increase from Octobers test and HR down 2 beats to 178.  So only marginal improvement which is disappointing.

Think I need to do some mental training and find ways to push harder. Also need to lose that non athletic chubby junior high kid. You know, the one who keeps getting hit in the face with the volleyball/softball/basketball... you know the one.

On the plus side, I'm down 2 more lbs!

I know when my Mom had to go on thyroid meds it took a while to get it dialed in.  So, don't feel too frustrated if things don't happen immediately.

Good luck on your goals!
