Sorry I've been such a slacker in the Secondary Challenge..... Been mega busy at work with a major customer implementation this weekend!  Friday night, no sleep at all.  But I did get in a whopping .59 mile (yes just over 1/2 mile) run in yesterday, after I managed to get a short bike ride in.

Not worried though --- I'm at nearly 66% of my goal now and have another 20 miles or so scheduled for this week.  If all goes well, I'll complete my run goal for the month late this week

NO SPARCO, I'm not sandbagging.  D001 said goal wasn't suppposed to be more than 10% greater than last months running, so I set it at 60.  I'll probably end up about 75.   I'm just a giver like that

My hip flexors are decidedly UNHAPPY again.  Today I am WALKING my "run"  and I'll take each day's run as it comes cause these stoopid hip flexors don't like a run focus.....sigh, I don't think I like running anymore, it always hurts me.

Hi team.  I need to modify my goal for the month.  :-(  I need to look at my plan and see what I can salvage of it.  I've been down for most of the week with the piggy flu and not able to run...over even bathe myself really.  Could use some happy thoughts and prayers since I'm feeling overwhelmingly undertrained going into Ironman Arizona in a month...  So it goes.

Anyway, nice job to all of you.  You're doing some awesome running!

After the crappy weather last weekend, this weekend was great! I managed just about 24 miles over the weekend. I have less than 70 miles to go to make my goal now. Feeling pretty good.

YUCK, I hope you recover soon!

I think Dee posted something about the % we can revise our goals.  I need to find it myself cause my hip flexors are being rather difficult again (SIGH)

I'm sorry you've been down with the flu and I hope you are up and around quickly. I'm sure your base is really good and that you'll do well in AZ.

It's my understanding that you should total up the number of days you've missed, divide that by 31, and then reduce your goal by this percentage.

If you are sick or injured but want to continue in the challenge:
Here is the procedure for adjusting your goal:

(Original goal) x (31 - Days missed) / 31 = Revised goal

this is the same as:

(Original goal) x (Days during the month that you COULD participate) / 31 = Revised goal

For example:
Your original goal is 50 miles. But you miss 5 days due to illness/injury. Your revised goal becomes:

(50 miles original) x (31 - 5 days missed) / 31 = 42 miles revised goal
(50 miles original) x (26 days that you COULD participate) / 31 = 42 miles revised goal

If you need to revise your goal but are unsure of how to change it, please contact your Team Captain or me.

That formula isn't going to work for me.  I have completed 56% of the goal with the month 60% over.  I think a reasonable expectation is 10% reduction but I'll let you decide.  I can still participate-at the moment....

CHALLENGE UPDATE!

It's a REALLY close challenge this month!

The CURRENT CHALLENGE STANDINGS are:
1st place - E.V.I.L. Running Reapers - 56.2%
2nd place - Crypt Keepers - 56.1%
3rd place - Running Pumpkins - 52.9%
4th place - Show Us Your Ghoulies - 50.9%

And in the SECONDARY CHALLENGE: (Because you KNOW there's always a secondary POST PADDING challenge!)....
Yeah, we know..... It's STILL Show us your Ghoulies by a landslide.
(Is anyone truly surprised?)

BUT with the standings this close, ANY TEAM CAN WIN IT!

October is only 58% over, so don't slack off now -- RUN RUN RUN! (Or I'll taser you.)

From Challenge Central, this has been your weekly Team Standings update.

- Dee

Nope, you're not sandbagging. The 10% increase is meant to keep people from injury. So your goal was good. That said, if you reach your goal, you can either leave it as 100% completion, or increase it.

Now, speaking of sandbagging.... Oh hi, Sal.

(I like picking on Sal. It makes me happy.)

Yep. You can definitely modify your goal.

Yeah, but... that formula probably isn't going to work in your case.

Your original goal was 81 miles, and you're currently at 60.4%. Since the month is only 58% over, you're ahead of your goal.

What do you want to do? I'm thinking you may either need to reduce the distance you run each time and/ or the # of sessions you have planned?

Many thanks Dee, I will take the reduction of 20% and see how the hips handle this.
