I need help getting my head back on track for this. 94 days out and I'm already up to 5 hours on the bike averaging a decent speed but keeping a good cadence even on my climbs. I will lose my bike this weekend though for two weeks at least. Shipping it to Tahoe for America's most Beautiful Bike Ride century ride June 6th. Guess that will make up for the lost time?!

Running is back and forth with my calf still having issues / long run is only 10 miles and my pace is a lot slower than last year which is driving me crazy. Though I did find that I have a track at my front door - the parking lot at my apartment complex circles a middle building and 4 laps around it makes a mile haha - speed work with out driving to the track!!!

Swim I don't even want to think about - I haven't been in the water in over two weeks though that will change today and hopefully get back into a routine with it.

I took about a two week recovery though b/c i was bogging ALL my long rides hitting walls I've need hit before and never want to hit again - I've learned emotional stress is WAY worse than physical. . . take the stress bring the pain is my theroy after all that lol.

This is my first Ironman and I have no clue where I should be with training and I don't feel like I'm going to be ready for this - that normal?

-just thought I'd drop in with a few random notes on my end of things . . .

Happy training everyone :-)

2200 ft of elevation would be awesome.  My weekday route is about 30 miles and has that amount of climbing.

The grades look bad when you see everything all scrunched together but should not be that bad when we get out there.

Sounds normal to me. I have completed 3 HIM and for each one I have never felt 100% ready. This is my first full as well and I train on the course and still feel the same way. The key is to not over think it, trust in your training. Remember "slow is smooth and smooth is fast."

Here is some real world data for anyone that cares to see it.  This was from an IAMTRI ride on the course in Louisville on May 22, 2010.  It is only one loop around LaGrange so the profile data is there but not repeated for the second loop.

I thought seeing my speed, cadence and heart rate through the course may help some people get a better feeling for the course.

I just received an email on this very topic.

"Dear Ford Ironman Louisville Athlete,

Ironman® and PowerBar® are reaching out to you with an exciting annoucement about the next step in their long-standing global partnership. As a triathlete, you're looking for a sports drink that provides enhanced performance benefits from a proven industry leader. Beginning on June 8, a new premium sports drink, called Ironman PERFORM™, will be available for purchase. Developed by the sports nutrition experts at PowerBar and tested by PowerBar Team Elite members, Ironman PERFORM is designed for athletes, like you, who demand a sports drink made with ingredients that help you push your limits and maximize energy delivery.

Ironman PERFORM sports drink features state-of-the-art C2MAX carbohydrate blend, found to deliver 20- to 50-percent more energy to muscles and improve endurance performance by 8 percent. Ironman PERFORM also enhances performance by delivering essential electrolytes, including 190 mg of sodium per serving, to replenish what athletes lose in sweat and to help avoid skeletal muscle cramps and dehydration. This convenient, ready-to-drink beverage is made with natural flavors and without the use of high fructose corn syrup. Ironman PERFORM is available in three light, great tasting flavors - Lemon-Lime, Orange Mango and Mixed Berry - to help encourage athletes to maximize fluid consumption during exercise. You'll have the opportunity to experience all flavors at the event.

Ironman PERFORM will serve as the official sports drink for the following events in 2010: Amica Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island, Ironman 70.3 Racine, Rohto Iroman 70.3 Miami, Ford Ironman Lake Placid, Ford Ironman Louisville, Ford Ironman Wisconsin, Ford Ironman Florida and Ford Ironman Arizona. Additionally, both the 2010 Ford Ironman World Championship and Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 events will include Ironman PERFORM on-course.

As a Ford Ironman Louisville athlete, we are offering you a complimentary case of the new Ironman PERFORM sports drink to utilize during training. It should be arriving at your home by June 11. We want you to begin using this product in preparation for race day and would also like to offer you an exclusive discount, beginning June 8, available at both www.PowerBar.com andwww.ShopIronman.com for purchase of additional product.

We wish you success in your preparation for Ford Ironman Louisville and look forward to your feedback on your experience with Ironman PERFORM. To purchase new Ironman PERFORM, visitwww.PowerBar.com or www.ShopIronman.com.

Free!  Yay!

I'll try it.  Hope it works well for me, I'm happy to buy more if it does and live off the course.

MBA here... can you IMAGINE the deal powerbar had to make to unseat gatorade?

Well not super free, remember the $575 we spent to sign up for this. But, it is cool none the less, i will certainly give the drink a try, especially since it will be the race day drink.

PowerBar loves sodium.  200mg of sodium in powerbar gel vs 50mg in gu. Now 190mg of sodium in the sports drink compared to 110mg in gatorade.  We'll be all sodiumed up by the end of this race.

At work today a guy found out I was doing an Ironman and his comment was "if you train hard and win, it will be worth all the time you spend training". My comment back "If I win alot of people died while racing or I have a rocket strapped to me".

I thought it was funny at least.

uh-oh, here comes June.

I have races in june! Hooray!

1 Mile OWS on june 5th and an Oly on June 27th.  I signed up for the oly because it fit into my scheduled but then learned it's a USAT Regional Championship race and qualifier for the age group nationals so I'll have to bring my A game.
