TRIMAN413 - 2010-02-02 10:29 AM I had a great January.  The only thing I wasnt in the pool as much as I wanted to be.  I am slowly building my base up.  I am sticking to the 10% rule.  I have been feeling great.  My knees are doing great.  They are a little stiff in the morning when I get up.  But it does not last long at all.
February goals:
1)  Continue to increase my base each week.
2)  Get in the pool more often.  At least 2x a week.

Glad to hear that your knees are doing well.    Hope February continues that trend and you can meet your training goals.

Artemis - 2010-01-31 7:38 PM Can you believe it's the end of January already?!  How did your month go?  Did you accomplish everything you wanted?

If so, great job!!  If not, remember that tomorrow is the start of a new month and you can always start fresh then.

What are your February goals?

Well, I made it through the entire month being "peachy"!!! I was very happy to accomplish that goal. That was my only real goal for January. However, I have been able to stick with my training plan pretty closely, so I'm really happy about that too. And no injuries!

My goal for February is to get outside more, running and biking(as opposed to just spinning). Also, my one measurable goal is to be able to run for 15 minutes without stopping (a big feat for me!)

It is June13th.  So I have plenty of time to prepare.  Some people that I've met in a running mentoring program are doing it as well and we're thinking of renting a cabin for the weekend.  Hopefully we can get one with a hot tub to rest the tired legs!

Congratulations on a peachy month!!  That's a tough goal.

You'll be running for 15 minutes straight by the end of the month.  Stick with it and increase slowly.

Yep.  I used a 24 week program, but you can easily use a 20 week program.  That sounds like a fun weekend.

ETA: be careful using a hot tub after a marathon.  It can actually make you a little more sore after the race and long run.  Unfortunately, ice baths are the way to go.

Hmmm....thank you...hadn't even thought about what the heat would really be doing to the body...just thinking about how nice it would feel!  I will definately send out a memo to the weekenders...Thanks Jen!

Not everyone uses their logs, but, yeah, it looks like we lost some people.  It seems to happen every year.

What you guys have done in the past few months is pretty impressive, though!  I love to go through and see all the progress.

yay, thanks for watching!!

On another topic - how have those of you that are using the higher levels of membership here liking it? I just realized I can't upload an actual training plan (with pretty charts) without buying a membership, and I'm currently going the free route. I feel like someone already asked this, so I should have searched archives...but is it worth the investment?

I'm finding the desire to have nicely coordinated color charts strangely motivating, in a way that lower cholesterol and better heart health don't seem to match, heh.

Thanks,
Jenna

I think it's definitely worth it.  You have a lot more access to training plans as well.  The bronze membership is pretty inexpensive for the whole year.  I also like that you can upload info directly from a Garmin to your training log if you decide to get one of those eventually.

One other nice thing is that you can enter your plan for the week and it will send you emails to remind you of what your workout that day or the next day is (depending on settings).

1. Click on "Settings" on the top.

2. Click on "Training Log Settings" tab.

3. Click on "Log Defaults"

4. Towards the bottom, there is "Email your planned workout?" You can set to tomorrow's workout at either 9 pm or 3 am.

Make sure you have your email set!

Let me know if you have any problems with that.

Good morning!

I did another run/walk this morning; still being cautious and conservative but it's starting to feel like I'm making positive progress! :)

Now it's time to hunker down for the weekend and wait for the snow to start! :(

snowpapocolypse, snowmageddon, snowapalooza, snowblivion...good luck with that. I remember (will a little sigh) the snow removal skills of the DC area. Not pretty. We may get a ton of snow in Syracuse (usually), but they sure know how to deal with it. I'm a little jealous though, a big snowstorm on a weekend...mucho fun.

I went to college in Buffalo (79-83), married a local, and spent many winters/christmases there. No comparison between how they deal with snow and how they panic/deal with it here. I saw so many stupid drivers out on Saturday.

My folks live in Dunkirk, MD, and I boomeranged after college in '94, experienced the blizzard of '96 - notorious for not being cleared for weeks thanks to Mayor Barry's snow plows busted around in disrepair. Shortly thereafter I escaped to CA for a few years - Northern CA...favorite weather ever.

I also went to elementary school in Waldorf, before we moved up to MA. We're movers, and I kind of never stopped...

You are ahead of us.

I did a run this AM before the snow started. I might do a trainer ride or yoga but my major exercise this weekend will probably be shoveling.
