Anyone catch the chat with the race director on IM Facebook page? I didnt get to join live but looking through the comments here is what I gathered ...

  • Bike course -1 loop, no change
  • Bike course - they addressed racers being stopped for traffic with TXDot and shouldnt have the same issue again
  • Swim - No change other than they will address wetsuits in the athlete guide. But it sounded like there were going to be changes in how they handle wetsuit athletes this year
  • Run - big change is that  it wont end in Market Street area this year but they didnt say where it would end

Kind of a bummer they are changing the finish. I liked it ending at Market Street.

Shermbelle - 2012-01-31 5:55 PM Last day of the month peeps, I know for me February really starts kicking it in compared to January. How is everyone feeling?

It's been a good and solid month...31days = 31workouts (more like 50 with two-a-days).  I was travelling for work all month, but had a good gym nearby with a pool and spin classes to keep me on schedule.  It's good to be back home with my real bike and normal training grounds!

Likewise...February really starts increasing the volume and intensity.  I'm looking forward to another good month of training!  I hope everyone is staying healthy and training hard!

Great job, solid month!

Wow, that was funny. Going through and reading some of the questions on the facebook chat.

"Is there any crocodiles in the lake?"   response from random chatter "yeah as big as cadillacs"

"how do I keep from getting my wetsuit stinky in the heat"

"you guys should give away complementary trips and entries to races cause it is far away from where I live and there are closer races"

While January wasn't a great training month for me it was a great month for me family and me.  I finally got enough gear to get my butt back in gear.  Next week I should be back in the pool as well.  February will be a great month.

Good luck and stay healthy.

Finished the month off on a very strong note. The crazy weather continues. Friday rode outside, then between Sat and Sun got over 12 inches of snow. Today was 54 degrees at 10PM when I went out for my run.

On to February where it is time to get down to business and make some serious gains.

Lets have a great month peeps!

I had a rocking month in January. Hit all my workouts! I acquired a foot "injury" thanks to my stupidity (new shoes, laces were too short, shoes were tied too tight for a 9 mile run)... but I can train through it. My poor butt is hurting from the bike seat on my trainer bike... I need to find the time to get it changed out at the bike shop. Otherwise, all is good here and I have been sleeping GOOD at night (75% of the time).

Keep up the great work everyone!

Looks like everyone is off to a great start! February didn't start great for me. I've been sick since Wed. and missed my workouts. Managed to get on the trainer today for a 2 hr ride. Thankfully it was a recovery week. Also only lost 2 lbs after having a month of super clean eating. Grrrrrr.Next week is a noticeable difference in volume increase. Looking forward to it! Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

x2 here ... good week. Swim training is progressing nicely and the classes I have been taking have definitely helped. Now I just have to extend the distance on my swims and not let form suffer. This wekends ride was fun. The winds Satruday were 15-20 and my ride is a north/south route. So, the 30+ miles north were fun .. but the return trip was really nice! RUn is progressing nicely. I have my logn run scheduled for this evening (11 miles).

Hope everyone is staying healthy and on track!

Well....that cold kicked my azz.

Woke up last Thursday knowing something wasn't right and as the day went on it got progressively worse. Took that day off as a precaution but got up Friday with the chills and sweating and headache. Got worse over the weekend until yesterday where I was mildly functionable at work. Was in bed by 7:45 for me last night which is ridiculously early for me. Woke up this morning feeling probably 85% so back at it again.

Not the way I wanted February to start but have to deal with it and move on.

All I need is a rental car and I'll be good. Signed up at the gym and will be back in the pool tomorrow. Feeling good.

That was me recently, too. It really takes it out of you - took me over a week to get my strength back, even after I felt the sickness had ended. Get well quickly!

Wow. Something is definitely going around. I'm feeling much better but my son is so sick. I'm paranoid I'm going to get his cough. He sounds terrible! I'm loading up on vitamins & herbs to be safe!

I was sick in December... so I feel like I am immune. Although I am VERY paranoid about anyone who is sick being around me.

Sorry to hear people in our training group are sick. I hope you all get better soon!

I thought I was immune too! I hardly ever get sick. I got sick the end Nov and it lasted until mid Dec and turned into Bronchitis. I lost 4 weeks of training. In January I really had to start over. So I'm really paranoid. I love my son, but am trying to not catch what he has. Here's to all the illnesses going away and health & strength here on out!

First it was my 3yr old who got it and an ear infection, then my wife missed two days of work, then me and now my 6yr old. Lucky its not the strep throat that all our neighbor kids have shared. Frown

Winter sucks, lets bring on spring Laughing

I'm planning on riding portions of the IM course for the next few months on Saturday mornings. Let me know if you'd like to tag along, or don't mind me tagging along on your group rides. Depending on the week, the winds, and the weather, I usually ride from 4 to 7 hours, and typically average in the 18-20 mph range.

I live in the back of The Woodlands, not too far from the WalMart at FM 2970 and Woodlands Parkway. This Saturday I was planning on riding the course out to Richards on 149, then back on 1486. I usually stop at the store in Richards for a bathroom break and bottle refill. Should be about 80-miles. Let me know if you're interested in a small group ride.
