Veteran 740 The Woodlands, TX | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread A common post-IM theme is always What Next. You've been focused on a goal for quite a few months and it's over. If you live here in Texas or relatively close, then my suggestion is to sign up for Buffalo Springs next month. You've got all this time and effort invested in the fitness base you've built, so why not extend it out a little longer and take in the BSLT experience in Lubbock (on 6/24)? Okay, I know Lubbock's not much of a destination, but I can tell you that the overall experience for this race is pretty unique. It is quite a bit different than Galveston or Austin. Kind of more hard-core triathlon without the flash or hype. Training wise it works out great....a little time to recover, then couple weeks of moderate distance & intensity, then a couple weeks to taper and wind down. That's my plan anyway.....BSLT next month, then focus on shorter races later in the year. I've signed up for BSLT twice. The first time I was dead-dog slow. The second time I hit a pot hole towards the end of the bike leg (on a flat, wide open stretch of road), crashed, broke my collar bone and DNF the run after about 1/4-mile). I'm hoping the third time will be the charm! |

I have some local races I'm doing... and then I'm going to focus on my coaching business, and have fun training! |

Master 1468 Montgomery, Tx | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread I have not stopped eating crap or feeling sorry for myself for not hitting my goal long enough to do my race report. I may do another race or 2 this year then concentrate on my march marathon. I told my wife we could do Ironstar relay in november? I may do Cozumel in 2013 if my wife can talk me into it. |

Member 28 Harker Heights, TX | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread I told myself i wasn't going to think about Ironman Florida until after Texas, but after the great experience, there is no question in my mind! It will be my 3rd! Hoping to do the Branson 70.3 in september and a few Oly's in july and august. We are moving to Kansas next month, so we will see (gotta love the Army!) We hope to be back in Texas soon! |

Missed my goal by over an hour. I'm giving myself this long weekend before I get back on track for IMNYC. On a different note my wife is ready to take the plunge. She'll be deployed soon but would like me to try and get us both in for FL or AZ next year. |

Started filling in some numbers on my race report and thats as far as I have gotten. Motivation is lost somewhere between Texas and Michigan, not sure that made the trip back home. As the days go by, I think I keep lovin that race and the area more and more. |

Champion 10471 Dallas, TX | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread Met the other members of Team Nu-Gen (myself, DiAnn and Ken) last night for a "race debrief". It was nice to sit down and to talk about what happened to each of us during the race. All three of us are pissed at our times and want revenge on the course. Looking at my times, the bike is where I screwed up. Kentucky was a harder course, but yet I did 7:07:11 there. I did 7:49:13 at IMTX. There really isn't any excuse for it. Other than I probably took it way too easy going out of town, because I didn't have a HR monitor that was working (the day before I realized I had put my run stuff in my bike bag, and my bike stuff in my run bag... so I flipped all the stuff outside the hotel... and I forgot to flip the Garmins. So I had my run Garmin on the bike and the run HR monitor strap). And the reality is this too, I trained in too low of a HR zone. I did most of my training in zone 1. Stupid. I should have done it in zone 2, and gone for zone 2 on race day. Otherwise, I stopped too much for too long. Stupid. Di is pushing for IMTX 2013. I am tempted simply because I want revenge. But Jonny (my boyfriend) would honestly kill me if I said I was doing it again. |

Same here - I am already being told by my wife that I should pack a bigger bag if I plan on doing the race next year! Here's to hoping she changes her mind in the next few months |

Master 2468 Muskego, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread I feel the same way. Might wife wants in too. I screwed up on the bike too, but it was because I drank way too much water towards the end and came off bloated. This left me unable to take in my infinit on the run intill it was too late. I had a great bike and kept my watts much lower than all my easy, long, training rides. 155 watts compared to 175. Should have gotten off the bike in great shape since 155 is 65% of my FTP. Alas, it was not to be. Trying to figure out which race my wife would like to do when she gets back from Afghanistan. Damn you!Is it a real tough course or just not big competition due to time of year?I did this race the first year. Swim is great, wet suits and clear water. Bike is slow, but not tough if that makes any sense. Almost no flat spots on the bike, but, except for the first climb, the hills are long (several miles) and gradual. There are not any real steep or technical climbs or descents. They close down a 4-lane divided highway for the race, so there's all kinds of room to absolutely fly on the descents. Lots of people bombing the hills at 50+. Run is multi-loop and pancake flat. It's a course built for a strong biker. I would guess times are typically 10 to 15 minutes slower than a course like OilMan. Time wise, it's close to Las Vegas and Kona, so not sure how that imapcts the top-tier competition.

1 | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread Hello, I am asking for help from all IMTX participants. A very angry aggro cyclist crashed into me at mile 82. I am a Blond woman many of you may have seen laying in the middle of the road badly bleeding. This man was middle aged 40-55 I think, on a black bike. He came up from behind me passed me on my left and then body slammed me with his bike and I flipped and landed on my head and face. He also didn't stop!!! I am trying to find the man that did this to me. He needs to be disqualified and banned from any further IM events. I am hoping someone behind me saw something. I have reached out to the IMTX Race director for help and he has ignored my emails. This greatly saddens me that IMTX does not want to help me try and find this person. Please help if you saw anything. Thank You Cindy |

Sorry to hear about this Cindy. I was far behind you as when I did see you, you were being helped by many people. I hope you do find this guy because he's not the kind of guy that needs to be out at these events. I hope you are healing well. Best off luck. Chris |

Or if there were many bikes around when it happened? Hoping someone steps up that saw something or if there is a way to narrow down who the culprit could have been. Hope you are recovering well |

I'm not sure what you expect the RD to do about it. There's no way they could figure out who it was. Hello, I am asking for help from all IMTX participants. Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas 2012 : Official Thread Cindy, You may want to post on Slowtwitch as well. Put as much information as you can and your splits so others may be able to narrow down if they were near you when it happened. The folks there have been able to figure out who racers were when something bad has happened. Hope you heal up quickly! |
