I wasn't familiar with that concept. As it happens, I'm considering only working an 8-hour day today instead of the usual 10-hours. Does it still apply in that case? |

Master 1441 North edge of nowhere | Subject: RE: TAN #144 Bring your sexTANt and steer by the stars. Kido - 2011-06-25 5:49 PM to remove your comment from its correct context: I'd love some darker days. Triple-digit temperatures for three weeks now with no end in the immediate future; I'd love some cloud cover. I went for a ride yesterday and it exhausted me just dealing with the heat. With my current work schedule, I just get to sleep when it's nice and cool in the morning. I've done very little training in two weeks just because of the oppressive heat. I'm tempted to stay up after work and train, then sleep from 9am until I have to get up for work in the afternoon, but that schedule is difficult for me to maintain.Jungle Jenn - 2011-06-24 9:01 PM Needing some better days! While I assure you I have not endured misery like projectile vomiting with three bruised ribs (ever), at least a) when I flew across three lanes of traffic, I didn't get run over or hit (miracle in Indonesia and I was on Bali's major highway) b) most importantly, the bike is fine c) I landed ON my bike instead of on the road, so very little road rash. |

What in the world happened Yanti? Sounds like it could have been much worse! |

Yum, iced melons! Better yet, I'll wrap the melons in proscuitto. Delicious, yet healing at the same time! |

Dang yuppies clogging up the tables at my Starbucks!
Went for a run this morning and stopped by the Circle K on the way home to get some water. Obviously, thanks to 100+ degree temps I was absolutely drenched in sweat when I walked in the store. Get to the checkout and the girl behind the counter, looking at me in an odd way says, "yeah, pretty hot out there today isn't it?" I agreed and then offered up a more compelling reason for being soaked. "Just finished a morning run and am headed home." This led to more of a look of understanding on her face and then she inquired "Oh cool, how far did you run?" "14 miles" "Oh, wow! Umm, congratulations?"
Probably had to be there but it was hilarious. |

Master 1441 North edge of nowhere | Subject: RE: TAN #144 Bring your sexTANt and steer by the stars. It's that look we get when we answer the question of "how far did you run?" that I enjoy. As though nobody in their right mind would run that far or for that long, when we know perfectly well that many people do more for longer. eh, it's entertaining. Ms. Yanti, WTF?? |

Yep, that's exactly it. It's as if when people ask that question they expect a reply of something around 3 miles. |

It's as if when people ask that question they expect a reply of something around 3 miles. Or they expect to hear a story about being chased by the poh-lease. "You ran seven miles? Why would you do that? Don't you know running is bad for your knees?" and similar carp. Oh, and I'm envious that you're over 10 miles. I'm getting there, but it hasn't happened yet. I was happy when I reached a 20-mile week! Hey Philip, if it's any consolation, tomorrow is my Friday, so my weekend isn't over. Yah, I guess that doesn't really help. Well, I tried. Sorta. Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: TAN #144 Bring your sexTANt and steer by the stars. Aw thanks so much boyez ... the saddest saddest thing is I really can't give or have melon presses right now WAAAAAH Damn, I thought I was in pain yesterday ... then I had to get out of bed this morning ... Ibuprofen, ice, and whining are my friends. Heh. Anyhow, I got beaned on the bike course during the Bali Tri. Twice. The second time was the bad one; short version is I got hit from behind by a taxi. HOWEVER My champion world record OWS friend is swimming with the mantas on Wed and I MUST GO!!! Can't pass this up! I'll just slap on a rib belt, some fins and a snorkel so actually I am sure the buoyancy, water pressure, and cool of the ocean will actually help. Since I don't really have to 'swim' per se. Sure the kicking with fins might suck but right now walking sucks. Breathing sucks. Everything sucks, so what's a different suckage? Okay. I'm pretty sure the boat ride out there will really suck. |

Champion 16151 Checkin' out the podium girls | Subject: RE: TAN #144 Bring your sexTANt and steer by the stars. I know how you feel. It's a week of swelling and brusing follwed by weeks of healing. Honstly, a good bike crash takes a month to recover from. Are you sure you didn't cracki a rib or 2? Not that it matters since rest is the only way to heal from it anyway. Take care of thyself. No piglets!!! |

Not that it matters since rest is the only way to heal from it anyway. Take care of thyself. No piglets!!! NO PIGLETS?!?!?!? WTF ... I don't think a body cast would keep me away from them ... Thanks so much sweet Pittzee *gentle virtual (MELON PRESS)* I'm a little bike shy now, heck I'm a little car shy, road shy ... etc (first time I ever been shy in my life, ha ha) Mighta cracked a rib or two, the docs here are pretty useless (maybe I will send Xray to Socks?), but yeah, same story. If there's a sharp edge could be bad news, but I don't think so. Ha ha ha, story of my life this year! "This could take weeks to recover from ...." I don't know why it's so funny. ETA: you know how it goes, i'm just babbling--it's not only that side that hurts, it's all up and down the torso, and my whole body is so painful, different than just the usual 'did a race untrained' spiel. Trauma of getting hit and then landing really does a number on ya! It actually feels a lot like when I had the dengue/chikungunya (both of which do terri, ble things to muscles/joints hence the moniker 'breakbone fever'.)

Master 1441 North edge of nowhere | Subject: RE: TAN #144 Bring your sexTANt and steer by the stars. Wow Yanti, a freaking taxi? Well, I THOUGHT the Bali Tri sounded interesting, but now I think it's something perhaps to be avoided. Well, having wrecked a motorcycle and gotten away with only a bunch of pain but nothing broken, I can empathize. Motrin, or whatever your witch doctor has on his or her shelf, and some rest. Watch Mork and Mindy re-runs or something. |
