Hi - I am coming in to LP with 2 friends from Ontario Canada and I have booked a camp site at Wilmington Notch but we would love to change that to a hotel - any suggestions anyone?

Thanks.

How'd the week go for you all?  Had a good long run up and down Heartbreak Hill on the Boston Marathon course yesterday, and some solid work on the bike trainer today.  Trainer Road rocks!

For the week:

S  1:25

B  3:30

R  3:30

Ready for a rest day, that is for sure.  Hope everyone else is healthy and hitting their targets.

My week was okay -- but I didn't hit all the workouts and that always bothers me.  I ended up inside nearly the whole week and totals that look like this:

B:

3h 00m 01s

Week 5 total:

Swim - 1.5 hrs

Bike - 3 hrs

Run - 2 hrs

Kept the streak of missed workout alive by missing the Friday's 1 hr run.  Plus 4 sessions of rock climbing / bouldering which would help with getting more gel out of each packet.

Hi all,

Just catching up on the thread here and wanted to get in on the fun...

This will be my second year doing IMLP. I competed in 2011. Had issues with my rear wheel on the bike last time and am hoping to have smooth sailing this year.

I don't have time goals down yet, but have greatly improved my comfort in the water and am a much stronger runner now. Not sure about the bike. The only thing I am looking at now as far as time goes is that my girlfriend did IMLP last year in 12:11:XX, so I guess that is giving me a little motivation.

I plan on doing REV3 Quassy as my warm-up race so I'm sure I will meet some of you there. Happy training.

I will be in Boston; my wife is running it. I may opt for the 5k, or run the last several miles with her. She is the speedster in the family! I will definitely swim with ETA at the lake, mostly on the Thursday night swims. Saturday cuts too much into long rides. Happy training!

A few of my tri club friends will also be at Boston. Two I know are running the 5k. If ya want to meet up for a beer afterwards, I'm game!

For all the recent Rev3 Quassy discussion there is a thread for that race as well.

My ANT stick arrived. If all goes to plan (and my HRM matches up) I will be hitting the Trainer Road tonight.

SO excited. I'm looking forward to more structure in my rides.

Trainerroad is really cool - not having a power meter, this is the next best thing.  Just keep the tire pressue equal from ride to ride.  I have created custom workouts from my training plan instructions with the annotation as to what the interval HR and cadence should be.

I just ordered an ANT stick from amazon too.  I have no idea what trainer road does but need something to give the long trainer ride a purpose.  Most of the time I'm just watching TV and moving my legs without any purpose.

Here's a typical ride with trainerroad (obviously, you can do whatever structured format you want, there thousands of workouts)

I found this article that helped me understand the TSS and IF (Training Stress Score, Intensity Factor) of an individual training exercise and the cumulative TSS effect as it relates to over-training.  I'm pretty sure I only understand about 50% of it, but it has helped me understand "training" in general.

http://www.peaksware.com/articles/cycling/normalized-power,-intensity-factor,-training-stress-score.aspx

Trainerroad calculates a TSS and IF value of each exercise.

Wow, it took me forever to catch up.  Hello, all!  Last I checked in here, there wasn't much going on.  I guess this is what happens when everyone's plans start up.

My plan with my coach started on Jan 1, so I've made it through my first build cycle and am working through my second now.

My swim is going wonderfully, making some progress.

The 2:30 trainer rides are sucking like you can't believe! I really should get the Garmin cadence sensor so I can use TrainerRoad.  If I'm supposed to ride in zone 2 for my long rides, does TR make any sense to set up??

That was what I felt my problem was, too.

I'm all paired up and good to go. Thanks to Jeff for the suggestion/ help.

Forecast to get up to 2ft of white stuff this weekend, so I may be getting very familiar with the programs!

Now if I could just get my butt in a pool......

tri warrior where in Saranac did you find a place to stay?  I did LP last year for my first IM and it was incredible.  I am jealous of all of you that are getting ready for this year.  I will be camping at Wilmington Notch and volunteering in the finish chute from 4-8 and will see you all then.  However I have a friend who is doing the race this year and is still looking for a place to stay.  Her back-up is to camp with us, but if there are places available in Saranac I would think she might enjoy that more.  Thanks for any help you can give me.
