Erika-awesome work on putting together the list What a great resource.. No IM for me. My "A" races will be AG Nationals and AG World Champs in Edmonton if I go.

Rene-I will not join your IM cult of self abuse!   I like my races where I can be drinking beer within an hour or two of starting the race. That whole 140.6 to get a post race beer....I don't get it. We can check out the local brews in Milwaukee!

Randy,  you need to drink the Kool-aid and join the club.

I'll take you up on the Milwaukee drink, Gotta get myself qualified before it sells out. That's what I get for being out all last season.

Sorry Erica, I should've updated at some point.

I canned the half marathon and will probably be replacing it with a 5k; the plan I was on was accelerating faster than my body could adapt. I suspect that it was a big factor in the PF issues I was having. The plan's been replaced by the 7 month plan on this site.

Right now, I'm reduced down to a 5k around August and a sprint in September. I think it's better to keep it easy and get into shape injury-free before I turn on the afterburners. I'll save 2015 for my breakout year.

Made some edits in the chart per the subsequent posts...I think anyone can edit it, so feel free...I take no proprietary interest in it...it is just meant to be a convenient tool for all of us.  Randy, I've no idea what your races are (distance/month) but they sound impressive as hell.  Just sayin'...

Oops...looking at the other posts, I guess only I can edit it.  Just let me know if you need changes and I'll try to get them into the original post.

Off for a bike ride now!  Have a good night!

Wow, Erika, that's awesome! I can't even properly log my training workouts. Thank you for laying it out for us.

Yes, I am doing the Xterra Guam on March 29th, and then a full marathon April 13th.

I haven't been able to get in the water at all this month. Just had not had enough daylight for swimming while my son's been training for and playing school soccer. This was the last week for it, so hopefully today and Saturday I can get swims in.

Just got finished with an hour on the trainer; I used TrainerRoad, which is an awesome, and cheap, resource if anyone out there wants a great bike workout library that also gives virtual power. I love it; it makes riding inside semi-tolerable. Here's a link if anyone would like to see what you get: http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/rides/625550-Geiger

Erika-thanks! USAT Age Nationals is mid August in Milwaukee. AG World Championships are in Edmonton Canada in late August.   Lots of racing before then but those are the biggies for this year!

Erika-

Thanks a ton for the one stop resource. I often find myself looking back through previous pages to find the info you included. My main race for this year at this point is the MiTi 70.3 in August.

Thanks again for the resource!

Erika, Let me echo everyone else's awe in the spreadsheet for our group. Nice work.

I did a 5 minute Trial on the trainer tonight and got 289 watts average. Best I have done in a long time so I am happy tht my legs seem to be coming around.

My 2014 is going to be my most ambitious season yet. Lots of racing. Three confirmed, maybe four, and possibly even five HIM races with some shorter stuff thrown in throughout the summer. Everything should culminate in November at IMAZ where the goal will be to break ten hours. There is some pretty serious work to be put in to achieve that. It is a stretch but I like ambitious goals.

No matter how the year goes it is always my goal to have fun and to improve. Sometimes it is good to remember that it is a hobby, not a job

Erika,

I may have missed it, but do you have a diagnoss for why you have knee pain? Has anyone looked at your running form to see if there is anything you can change?

I have no ACL or medial meniscus in my right knee. I had given up running completely at one point to preserve my knees and then one day I read about chi running. It made sense to me that this running style would be much easier on ones knees. It took me at least six months to make chi (or pose or natural) running my running style but it was worth it. My knees used to ache after runs but since my personal switch I have basically had zero knee issues. This is with greater than 1,000 miles per year for the last 4-5 years.

It might be worth talking to someone about. I believe that it has worked for me.

There are some really strong opinions out there regarding changing ones running style. I probably would not have undertaken the change if I didn't have my pre existing issues but I am definitely a believer.

Wow, I've been too busy working, working out, and sleeping lately -- lots of catching up to do!

Nice job on the group list, Erika -- thanks! That's a very inspiring list.... BTW, I hope your knees hang in there. I've got two relatively healthy knees and I'm still not even close to doing a full IM yet (maybe 2015?). I'm just hoping I'll make it through my first HIM in June...

Speaking of doing my first HIM... I was flopping back and forth about doing either the Folsom Long Course Triathlon (HIM distance) or the Boise Ironman 70.3 in June. So on Sunday, I logged onto TriFind.com to help me figure out my 2014 schedule. I went to the California race directory -- and I almost freakin' fell out of my chair... Guess what? At the top of the page there's this large picture of me embedded with a 2014 Folsom Long Course Triathlon logo! Is that straight out of the Twilight Zone or what??!!  I guess the triathlon gods have officially deemed that I'm doing Folsom in June...

Here's the link I opened:

http://www.trifind.com/ca.html

I have no idea why they chose to use that particular picture. It's actually from a duathlon that I did last year. But it's me -- in all my geeky, slow-motion glory.  I certainly don't think I'm going to scare off anybody...

Onto other business...

Jamie, a really cool thing about TrainerRoad is that you can also create custom workouts. I use that feature a lot.

Kevin, good luck on your marathon in 12 days. I guess your race will be the inaugural 2014 event for our group.

I hope training -- and life -- is going well for everybody!

- Steve

Good morning everyone! I had a message from a gentleman that wanted to join our group. We are a little toward the high end of the number we like to see but as things settle and we lose a few people I thought one more member would be fine. Hope that is OK with everyone. We have a really consistent, active group this time and I am really enjoying the discussions.

Work eases up just a little for me today. Plan to swim at lunch. I think it will be my longest single swim session to date at 4000 yards. Seems like alot for a short course guy like me but given my limited running lately I guess its part of my swim focus. I'll see how it goes.

Have a good day everyone.

Well someone is up early today!! Good morning!

Steve that's really cool about your picture! My husband's picture keeps popping up locally in stuff like that too!

Hit the treadmill this am. I did a heart rate test yesterday and determined my zone 2 is 124-126.
um, it's hard to keep it that low while running!

That is all for now! Have a good day!

Please tell me that it's not 4,000 straight. I think I did 2 long sets of 75-80 laps last year to get ready for IMLou, and it seemed to take forever!

If anyone else is questioning TrainerRoad I'll give it my full endorsement (for what it's worth) as well. For $10/month they do an absolutely amazing job at making indoor riding more interesting with the pretty much unlimited library of rides and the virtual power metric. Jamie, are you doing the Tour of Sufferlandria at the end of the month? I did it last year and it is brutal. 9 straight days I believe of Sufferfest rides, anywhere from 45 minutes to 1:30. I completed it last year and they keep track of everyone's rides and anyone who drops out and such.

Here's another endorsement for TR...and while I'd like to hammer out the Sufferfest challenge, if I did I might as well toss my training plan into the trash.

The start of the race I had the jitters. I was watching the other age groups start as they seeded the swim with over 1000 participants.
