Member 3146 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker's Appreciation Society--Always Open Split ride today, with 30' outside and 40' on the trainer. There were a lot of cars out and I didn't really feel all that comfortable outside, so I came in. But, it was fun while it lasted. |

2126 Baltimore, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker's Appreciation Society--Always Open Got a 4 mile run in yesterday. It was gorgeous out. Might try and get another one in today since it will be another nice day. Had a football game yesterday as well, and have another one this afternoon. My hips are pretty sore. |

Master 2629 brummie land | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker's Appreciation Society--Always Open I finally got back out on my bike! Yay! Had a dreadful stomach bug fortnight ago and only just feel recovered. I lost 6 pounds in 3 days - eek!!! I've never been so happy to see a gain on the scales last Friday!
Good news to Andrew on your CT scan: random Q - could it be anxiety or muscle related?
And heylo to everybody else, particularly the beer posters. My BOW is as i am watching ronde van vlaanderen (sp???) whilst nursing a few |

Well done for getting out for a bit! I was lucky as it was Sunday afternoon, and so quite quiet out. |

I put it off as long as I could this morning and then struggled through the whole thing. At least it is done. Now...the yard is calling again. The never ending fight to try to tame nature. |

Running, swimming, football, volleyball, I'm always impressed with how much activity you can fill your days with. 1:30 on the trainer yesterday. Changed out my break cables, housing & bar tape. I was hoping the down-tube shifters I ordered a month ago would be delivered (Amazon said they were out for delivery) but now it says maybe next week... I also discovered that my steer tube has more forward & back play than I'd like, I'm not looking forward to opening that can of worms. Did 1800 of a 2600 swim this morning, then I got a wicked calf cramp. I'm not sure if its advisable to keep swimming after stretching it out, but I decided against it. Hopefully I'll get a run in this evening. |

That reminds me, my 7 day average weight is officially under 185! My goal is 18-20% body fat, that should put me at about 175-177 ish. Not much further. Edited by riles32807 2019-04-07 1:05 PM |

I am divorcing my garden! Going to get fake grass put down so I don't have to waste time mowing my lawn. Tbh mowing is the least worst gardening activity but now the miniscule amount of time I wish to spend out there will not be wasted on it. Btw drinking a cider or cleaning my bike don't count as wasted time! |

I always tried to battle through cramp. Good stretching and increase electrolytes and lots of pull sets may help. |

Congrats!!! My next goal (not brought about by illness!) is to see 169, then down from there. Keep it up! |

All those mature trees that looked so great when I looked at this place drop crap in the yard...sticks, spiky balls, acorns, walnuts, and leaves. All that has to be picked up...by me. Don't even get me started on the mowing!! |

Member 3146 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker's Appreciation Society--Always Open Rest day for me today. Had my second and final post-op appointment with the surgeon. He says everything is healing up well and lifted all of my restrictions, so back to swimming I go soon. Best news is that the little blob of wonder that started this whole series of dr. visits and led to surgery turned out to be non-cancerous. Whew! |

Regular 1779 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker's Appreciation Society--Always Open Good news , since I got the call on Friday that the CT scan was clear I've been on 3 short, easy paced runs. And felt 100% fine. I'm not sure if it means that whatever was happening is not longer happening. Or, that the low heart rate stuff means I'm not working hard enough for it to happen. But whatever I'm very happy to be out there. Mrs Bullfrog commented over the weekend how much happier I am since I've been for a run I've also got to buy a new toy, I'm now the proud owner of a wahoo TICKR fit optical heart rate monitor. It's only 1 run in, but so far so good. I know that chest straps are supposed to be the best, but for whatever reason I've always had issues with them massively over reading. On my jog on Sunday, when walking the Gramin chest strap was giving me a heart rate cycling between 190 - 230 BPM. (don't worry I checked my pulse manually, and used the phones optical sensor to compare... I was not actually having a heart attack, actual BPM was about 120) I've experienced this before, and it's part of why I stopped using HRM's years ago. But with this current situation Mrs BF and I both agree that I should be using a HRM to make sure I keep my effort levels low, so a brilliant excuse for a new toy. Originally posted by sappho96 Good news to Andrew on your CT scan: random Q - could it be anxiety or muscle related? Not a totally random question. I've been wondering myself. I can definitely see how after the first time I felt tightness the rest could have been anxiety, it's definitely a stressful thing, and I was concerned about it. But I can't think of a reason for why anxiety should have caused the first one. So is it muscular? Or bad indigestion, or anxiety, or something else, or a combination of some of the above? I do not know yet. Hopefully I will get some answers after my next cardiologist appointment... even if it's just another referral to a different specialist to look at something else. |

I like to keep busy, and need to mix it up to keep myself interested haha. Calf cramps are the worst. Make sure you are hydrated! I also think if you point your toes too much it can cause them. Make sure your legs are relaxed/not too stiff while you kick. |

My BOW is as i am watching ronde van vlaanderen (sp???) whilst nursing a few Stella! Perfect for the cobbled classics. And what a first win for Alberto Bettiol! Didn't get to watch the race but saw the recap of the closing km. I'm a big fan of that team and glad to see they're making some waves this year! |

Headset bearings? I haven't tackled this myself, and keep wondering if a headset replacement is in my future with my stuck/stripped cap bolt. Let me know what you find! |

Expert 4924 Middle River, Maryland | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker's Appreciation Society--Always Open Great news on the medical side around here. Glad you two are OK and cleared to go. Speaking of medicals, had another facet radio frequency nerve ablation this morning. Fun stuff (it's actually not too bad, just like this weird pressure and burning sensation). My PCP recommended it to help with this lingering back pain. Got in a double yesterday, 60' trainer with 4 x 6' @ threshold, and then swim and strength training last evening while my daughter had swim practice. Sore today even before being electrocuted. LOL Going to take a couple of days off and then ease back into it. Last time it took about a week before I was fully ready to get at it, but was able to do some easy stuff. It's supposed to be sunny and 75 here on Saturday so am debating an outdoor ride. |

Member 3146 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker's Appreciation Society--Always Open Hi All, After a pretty painful look at where I stand in my training versus where I need to be to complete a full at MiTi in August, I've made the difficult decision to postpone MiTi until 2020. We sit 18 weeks out and I'm at zero consistency in workouts, way behind where I need to be in base building, and my mojo has wandered away. After an email exchange with my coach, I think it best to concentrate this year on the HIM level and continue to build my base up to be able to finish MiTi with a smile on my face and uninjured. I can't say I'm not disappointed, but when I made the decision to go for it and signed up, I didn't know I was going to get sick for two straight months or that both my wife and I would have surgery in a 6 week window. Life has stuck its head in my lovely training bubble and it certainly got in the way. I did a 1 hour interval workout with intervals at 125% FTP this morning--ouch. Off to run a couple of miles now. |

Or are they part of a scheduled tri training plan... I use Trainer Road's library - there are about 20 or so that are my go-to's. I do a mix of sweet spot, threshold, and VO2 max work. Sometimes just tempo/Z2 if I don't have it in me. If you look at my BT logs or my Strava feed you can see the actual workout names in TR. |
