I want the dome IM sticker on my car! I went back to get one after IMFL but they already sold out. I didn't want to get it prior to finishing.. otherwise I would have jinx myself, right? BUT alas, I'll get one at IMAZ. . .

Time for sleep!!! Is there such a thing as too much rest??

What are you tapering for now?

Hello

My plans for the weekend are unclear. I've been working a lot the past few weeks and thus my planning skills have been focused on work. I need to get back to every Sunday planning my week out.

I know I'm going swimming with daughter Friday night.

Saturday- long run and some bike

Sunday - run or bike. I may get outside ...we've been -5 to -15 below so I haven't ran outside for a couple weeks.

Oh I forgot to tell the group I learned how to do flip turns. I'm not great at them, but I can do them now. I'm also getting better at bilaterial breathing.

1h 00m 5.90 miles 10m 10s/Mi

3x10' Increasing Speed
15' Moderate Speed
4x30"/1' interval HARD
1x1'/1:30' interval HARD
1x2'/3' interval ULTRA-HARD

This felt SOOOO good.  It wasn't on my schedule, but I needed it; mentally and emotionally.

I got on the scale this morning for the first time in a long time and tipped in at 250 pounds.  30 pounds higher than I was at this time last year.

Long Island is experiencing 6"-10" of snowfall.  For those who have never been to Long Island, this will mean:

a) It will take me 4-6x as long to get anywhere today.

b) I'll be unable to buy milk or bread for a month, since it's all on BackOrder

c) 99% of all Accidents will involve, in some form or another, a woman driving an SUV at incredibly dangerous speeds.

d) I will see the same 1 snowplow all over town.

e)People will talk about leaving work early (I never understood this one for insignificant snowfall)

There will just be the type of chaos usually reserved for nuclear war or direct meteor hits.

Sometimes I miss Syracuse.

I'm official...I joined USAT. There's no turning back now...right?!?!

Put that sticker on your vehicle and be proud!

I just got a new vehicle that has the front plate. I wish they made a USAT license plate.

I got an Ironman Finisher's license plate frame.... It is cool... and people do notice..

I have the domed M-dot on one side of my rear window and the USAT sticker on the other.

I like pulling into the parking lot at Flatwoods and seeing all the USAT stickers on cars. It makes me feel like less of a freak.

Cube, you will NEVER be less of a freak.

I saw we were creeping down the page a bit. How is everyones weekend going? My kids had a swim meet yesterday and Matt (my 8 YO) swam his first 500 in 8:30!! He held consistent :51's and got out with a smile on his face. He took 5th out of 7 in his race and the thing he likes best was they were all 11 and 12 yr olds!

I swam the 1650 with a few kids and did not get girled by the 13 yo! Whew!! I threw up a RR if you want to read about it. The cruise control was working fine yesterday! Held 1:08 100's the entire swim and felt like I could have gone a long time at that pace.

During your swims, especially in races, do your best to hold your stroke together. Easy to say but in distance swimming as soon as you lose your form it's like putting a parachute out.

Hope everyone's weekend is going well!!

It is soo true about holding your form..  Friday when I was swimming, I was doing the form thing and then I felt myself getting out of alignment in another area.  Well, I felt like I was trying to start all over again and again and again.

I have hill training today on my bike.. then I'll be running and then I'm heading back to Jax..

This weekend I met Werner Leitner, Swen Sundberg and Matt and Annette, and David, and Axel and . . . . . .

Where are the hills in Florida???
Matt is as fast as me in swimming... and I'm twice his age! I remember doing an 8:30 500 just a couple months ago! He must be a really good swimmer..and I'm really slow. Good job on the swim meet Bob and Matt!

Bob (or anyone): Anyone even train with a run/walk method?  I was reading about Mike Ricci's success with 8/2 Z1 training, so I did that today and will do it until I see results (or not).  I sure was slow (12m49s/m), but I also felt more "conversational".

I have heard a lot of good things about run/walk training. I know for my marathon it did not slow me down at all to walk the aid stations for 30 seconds. When I started running again I felt fresh and got back into a great pace. You will probably start off at a slow pace for a bit but will adjust. Don't be afraid to play with the ratio a bit either, 8 min run / 3 min walk, 6 min run / 2 min walk, etc. As long as you're moving forward the time you lose isn't going to be substantial. Your body will appreciate the small recovery throughout the run.

I walk/run a ton.  It uses different muscle groups to walk and allows your legs to take a little break without stopping.  I've been known to do a long run of 20 in 8:20s WITH walk breaks....and have heard people running 3 hour marys while incorporating walk breaks.

Just gotta get use to it. That being said, some people just can't do it.

Thanks Trix.  Are your walk breaks scheduled/structured like 8/2, 10/1, etc. Or do you do it randomly?
