TrevorC - 2009-08-18 12:07 PM Someone...answer me about the calf guards..How long are you supposed to wear them? Sleep in them? That kind of thing.

As long as you want, no ill effects as far as I know.  I wear my compression socks all day at work.

I would think that you'd only want to wear compression clothing for a brief recovery after a training session or race.  they will cut off lymphatic flow being tight.  I'm not sure what the long term problems would be.

I think you can pretty much wear them as much as you like. The only potential downside might be lack of soft tissue adaptation if you wore them for every run. I have no medical research to back that up, but from a layman's POV, it seems like the compression might prevent some of the supporting musculature of the calves from operating in a completely natural fashion, and thus inhibiting the muscle breakdown/rebuilding process to get stronger. But I think the research shows positive effects after a workout and I can't see why sleeping in them would do any harm. Birdy gave me a pair for my birthday, and I think I can feel a positive difference if I slip them on post-run for an hour or so. Plus I'm safely in my house, so I don't feel/look ridiculous...

But can you pull off the look with capri's on as well??

Heheheheh! Well, I think we've firmly established that he isn't afraid to wear what's comfortable. He even offered me a pair to borrow even though he's 4" taller. I told him that I already have a pair of Birdy-length capris, but I usually refer to them as "pants"...

Yeah, he didn't seem to think that was too funny...

Ah Steve.....where is the defense?
I actually through mine on after the gym today, so I'm at work with them on. I feel funny with them on. But obviously no one know they are on. It's my little secret.

I cannot find where I would enter the promo code... but there is apparently a huge sale there right now anyway.  $149 for the Vortex 3 full suit and $350 for the Vendetta Pro.  Hmm.  But still no place to enter the FACEB code, so maybe it's disabled during this sale.

Who here uses what suit?  I understand that I'll see a huge difference from the SEADOO suit that I have now... ehghhem.  So do I go with the less expensive (read: more affordable) or go for the better suit and spend the extra cash.  Anyone know the real difference between the two suits and then, would I notice the difference in suits?

I just went it to the screen.....I picked a suit, and went to checkout. When you fill out your info it says on the bottom "IF you have a promo code, you will be asked to enter it on the payment screen."

Most sites I've bought from, you enter the code at checkout as well. It is confusing.

dalessit - 2009-08-18 12:00 PM LOL, I love endurance sports.  Spent most of the day looking for suitable frames (read cheap) that I could use to build up for trying out cyclocross racing and to use for a commuter.

So many options for racing, Tri's, running races, Road bike races, TT's, Cyclocross, MTN bike races, Exterra's, etc.  Of course I need separate equipment for all of themLaughing

Admitting you have a problem is the first step....

I wear an ORCA because it was onsale when I bought my suit.  It has served me well but it does have one bragging feature.  The Neoprene is thinner in the shoulders and biceps area and this allows for greater flexibility in the arms.  I like that.  For the time I think as long as the suit is comfortable I wouldn't drop tons of money.  Personally  I am what is slowing me down in the water, not my wetsuit!!

Agree...Mine is a Nineteen pipeline. On of the cheapest ones in the store.  One thing you may want to do is try one on in a local store if you can for sizing. I'm 6' and 205 lbs, and wear a Medium..Nothing in my wardrobe is a medium!!!

I have a Neosport suit, not sure on the model.  I'd go w/ Tracy in that the suit won't be the limiter for me for a long time - I'm a 'glacial' swimmer as Ryan would say.  And to confirm the need to try one on, I'm 5'9 175 and also wear a medium.

I have the Neosport shorty - no arms, only comes down to the knee - no binding in the shoulders at all...  It's not exceptionally warm, but does the job down here for the 2-3 months where wetsuits are legal on OWS.

Tony and I had a really great ride today. Wnet from Sam and his house to Haines Point, did laps there and came back up through Roslyn. Only got rained on for the last 5 minutes. 28 miles in total. Hey Tony how long did that take us? I did not start my Garmin at the right time.

BTW Sam and Tony's kids are real cute, even with the poop knock-knock jokes!

I was renting a 2XU for my races until I bought the xterra. I don't have a comparison yet as I don't have my new one yet. I am hoping it will arrive soon so I can get a few OWS with it. It better I am getting dishpan hands from having to wash dishes and nothing to show for it. Oh well only another 6 weeks of washing dishes and my suit will be officially paid for
