Here is the wall climb in Savageman last Sunday, my friend Dave is at 1:20 in the video riding up the left side of the hill then veers to the right and crashes. Many many falls happen just in a few minutes!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtZ-tMjbqDo

That's just a crazy steep hill.  Especially at the end of a ride.  Props to them!!

Savageman is a FANTASTIC RACE!!!  I've done the olympic distance 2x and rode the half course for training this summer.  The wall kicked my butt but that is only the start of the climbing.  That race deserves its own tatoo.   To be honest that half course scares me more than Canada did.  I believe it is voted the toughest course out there.  I highly recommend it.

You are a beast, Tracy.  I'm still scared by long "flat" courses :-)  All in good time, all in good time.

I took the day off today and spent the morning dealing with taxes and other necessary, but unpleasant, financial bull $h!t.  Now it's time to pack up the tent, race gear, coolers, and the dogs and do some serious relaxing. Any advice on eating healthy and resting well when camping before a race??  Weather forecast: Temps 47/63, clouds and rain.  Going to be VERY different than my last race.  Fun!!  I'm shooting for a good run.  Have a great one this weekend everybody!

Good luck Jayne!!  Find your run!  Never camped before a race so I am no help there but I think there are several who have...Roni is doing it right now.  Maybe Linda (velcromom) too?

Have Fun!

LOL, just received an e-mail from MarathonPhoto trying to get me to buy pictures from the 2009 Marine Corps marathon.  You think they would have figured out if I hadn't bought one in 2 years that I'm not going to now.

Also, it is supposed to rain quite a bit between now and Sunday here, my CX race is going to be a mudfest.  Should be interesting.

Welcome to the darkside...sweet. That bike is made for hills though. not that flatlands on the southern east point of the USA.

Do you have a hamster living there? What's with all the woodchips?

I have camped, albeit a bit against my will! Wildflower long course x2; and then for 4 days before CdA.  To be fair, we moved into the resort hotel a couple of days before the race....

The tough part is the quality of sleep - bring a good air mattress & ear plugs.  Bring your 'regular' foods, and backups if your cooking source is iffy.  No drinking by the campfire until AFTER your race.  Ugh - with rain, bring lots of tarps and plastic!  Do everything you can to stay warm & dry, and if there's a Marriott close by - check in.  Wink

Hi, just been away for a few days staying in an old lighthouse keepers cottage; fantastic place surrounded by national park and only accessible by driving for an hour up a deserted beach, felt like being in a different world but only an hour and a half from home. We saw a pod of 15 Minke whales below the cliff as we had brekky yesterday and the evening before had dolphins swimming almost within touching distance down at the beach.

No racing for me, just realised it's now 5 weeks till the Noosa Tri so I need to add a bit more intensity to my training, my knee is almost healed but I don't dare push it too much so my running's going to be my weak point...

GOOD LUCK RACERS!

PS I'd love to give that hill climb a go!
