tricrazy - 2011-09-29 7:49 PM I am so sad.  I have a set of twins that had a placenta disease called Twin to Twin Transfusion syndrome.  We had fetal surgery at 19 weeks with a 50% chance of both surviving and an 85% of one surviving.  We were so blessed that both survived the surgery.  Well, I just had a friend lose one of her twins to this disease after the surgery and my heart breaks.  I hate that we got so lucky and I know so many others who continue to lose their beautiful babies everyday.

Sorry Rachel about the terrible news.

Sorry about your friend Rachel, but I'm also very happy that both your twins survived. Terrible things happen but miracles like your babies also happen so don't beat yourself up about it. I hope everything goes well now for your friend's baby.

Thanks for the banana recipe, were just getting affordable banana supplies again this month after 6 months of incredibly high prices due to Cyclone Yazi. Banana's went from $1.99 a kilo to $14 a kilo!

This is worth a read in case you missed it in the Tritalk forum:

and this is also cool, but completely unrelated to triathlons:

Good luck to all our racers, especially George as he embarks on his first marathon!!!  When you feel like you're about to poop out, try smiling and think of the MG to run 10 more steps!!!!

Sam and Tony congrats on the Anniversary and have a blast at Disney!

Festivities for the Huskers/Badger game kick off tonight with a rivalry dinner....it all continues tomorrow at the game after I get back from my ride....temps are expected to be in the upper 30s at the start.  HmmmUndecided!

Thanks for all the good thoughts guys!  Sometimes it is so hard to tell people how well our surgery went and they have a less than great outcome.

Hello everyone.   I am hopelessly behind.   I am very thankful to have started a new job but I've tried to be a good girl and not check BT while at work.  Then when I get home it's still go go go with the kids and the hubby that I don't want to get on a computer.   I miss my BT family.  Everyone around the office has left early for a volunteer activity so I'm sneaking a few BT moments.  Ssshhhhh.

Good luck George on the marathon.  Weird I know but a marathon still scares the crap out of me.

My Doug is making me post this next statement.  He really wants to make the Portland REV 3 race next year.   I don't know if we will be able to but I'm suppose to tell the group to at least put him on the maybe list.  Yo be honest I think he is dying to run with Steve, Ryan and Kyla again.

Good luck to all our racers this weekend.  I starting to feel a little jealous so I guess the macro-recovery period is over.

Hey Doug, did you see the Tabacco Trail Marathon registration is open?   Interested?

That guy was having way too much fun with his garlic, Dan! The hydration article is interesting, I still like my straw though and once that aerobottle is secured I don't worry about it. (at least for HIM/IM). Feel like I have read and heard too many stories about people dropping bottles, train tracks dislodging bottles...I really like grabbing the handoff and filling my aerobottle and still having time to grab another to top it off...those bottles at the aid stations never fit securely in any of my cages. Is the horizontal one that fits between the aerobars is tighter?

Walking: 20m

A better run month for me. Cycling slacker (no comment on the lack of swim). Running is just the easiest thing to do every day... so little planning, so little time, just get 'er done. Would like to be getting more of 'er done over the next few months!

First time in a long time with 3 days off in a row!!

Ah, well.   Should have ended higher......but I've still beat 2010 in the bike and swim already!  Advantages of a late IM.

Have to scrap the Rock & Roll HM Sunday.  Very bummed, but will be there cheering on Zach!!

Scheduled for the spinal injections Monday.  L4-L5-S1.  Some tears, and some leakage, but not a whole bunch worse than 12/09, so there's hope.  PT starts on 10/11, and the doc thinks it'll be a quick ramp-up.

Worse news is that the knee pain is probably a different issue.  Some compensatory pain, but probably a different problem.  He suggest dealing with it symptomatically until after AZ, then moving ahead with scans on it.  I think the doc has figure out how badly I want this race, I'm just hoping he's right.
