Hi everyone....just an FYI I went down and checked out the race site this AM. Bike racks/transition already up. I was able to drive right the the Fort Wilderness parking lot and walk down to the lake @ 20 minutes or you can take a shuttle bus)....looks like swim exit/transition is a bit of a distance...the bike course looks marked-will drive tomorrow...weather is not too unbearable; slightly overcast at times which helps. A small breeze which I couldn't really gauge as far as the bike goes yet-doesn't seem very strong. Okay now I just sit and wait!!!Frown

Anyone know how people can track us through the race this weekend via the internet??

if you give your bib # to people they can go on ironman.com and look at the times. it will show each time you pass a timing line.

Flew in this morning, staying at the Grand Beach Resort.  Drove the bike course today, no surprises, pretty much as described.

Well I have been following this thread for 3 months and looking forward to the race. All my training was done and in the middle of my taoer week and was invloved in a aciident in my garage Wensday night requiring 60 stitches in my arm and my race is over. Totally devestated after all the training but will find another 1/2 later in the summer. It has been great seeing all the post and answers to the newbie (me)questions. Just wanted to write and tell everyone good luck.

Arrived at the race site around 12 noon today.  We were quite early, so check-in was pretty much a breeze. Drove the entire bike course.  Except for a couple of stretches of state highway, the roads actually look nice and smooth with very little traffic.  There are some rollers between miles 25 to 35 (or so I estimated), just enough to break up the course and make it more interesting.

We also drove by a section of the run (the turnaround farthest South on the course map).  The Cube said it best, it truly looks like an "African Grassland."  Seriously, it's pretty icky.  I don't think this run is going to be very pretty for anyone.  I was expecting the grass to at least be mowed down a bit.  Maybe they'll get to it tomorrow??

I've never had to wear a full-size bib number on my back during the bike leg, so that is new to me.  I'm just pinning all four sides to my Camelbak instead of messing with a race belt & flapping number.

We also got to watch the space shuttle take off today. Where we live in FL, we can only see lift-off on a very clear night.  So, to see it up close during the daytime hours was pretty darn cool!  It looked like a glowing rocket!

Hubby and I will be at Lucky's Lake for the 7:45AM swim tomorrow.  There's a fundraiser pancake breakfast afterwards too!

cpsdad-Oh my!  I'm so very sorry to learn this.  I can only imagine how you must feel, but 60 stitches!  Wow!  That's quite an accident!  Sounds like it could have been a lot worse.  There will be other 70.3 races for you... and with an bigger base, you'll be even more prepared to let 'er rip! Keep your chin up!

Picking up Dewcubs at 415. In tranistion at 5 I am at NC state in Raleigh NC seeing my daughter graduate today and flying back to Orlando this afternoon. This is going to be a great weekend for me. My daughter is graduating summa cum laude which would be the equal of me finishing this race in 5 hour range. I had to share how proud a father I am today. She is starting Grad school in August. I am starting IM training for a Nov race a week from Monday. What a great weekend. All make sure you post after the race and tell how it was for you. Good luck to allBrian

Good Luck everyone!!! Enjoy YOUR day tomorrow.
Be happy your there and didnt do my race, waves/wind were a killer.
Was still able to take 4th AG and 26th overall out of 350.
Remember to drink and the bike and grab a sponge first thing on the run as they run out and you can re-wet your during the african glassland run...lol
best to all!!
